Vacation day Payout

They are trying to only pay me out for 2 vacation days even though I have 15. Is this happening to anyone else? Anyone have suggestions to get all 15 paid out? I'm US systems

Along the lines of vacation, if you put money into the flex spending account, then use it all. if you put in $500 then use all $500! If you do not use it then you will loose what every you put in. even though you may have only paid in a small amount you can still use all $500 and you will not have to pay it back.

That is what people were told last year during the RA, so you might want to just double check it.
I personally did not use the flex spending account, but used the HSA.

From memory from when I had to lay off department members a couple years back, you will only get paid for vacation days you have not used for this year. But they prorate those days, meaning if you use all of your 2021 vacay days by now, you would actually need to pay them back.

If you did have unused vacation days from 2020, they could be compensated for up to your yearly maximum.

Lets say A and B have 24 days of vacation every year.

A uses 12 days in 2019.
B uses 24 days in 2019.

A has 24 days of vacay in 2020 (nothing rolls over)
B has 24 days of vacay in 2020

A and B are RA'd Feb 1st 2020

B has used 0 days of vacay, is compensated for 2
A has used 0 days of vacay, is compensated for 12

Why does A get compensated for 12? While vacation does not roll over, those 12 unused days are used to bump A's initial quota.

Rules may have changed, but that is how it worked out a couple years ago.

I am only getting 2.5 days. I normally get 25. They’re only paying / reflecting the months that you are in IBM the year 2021. I asked the HR person, please list the exact formula you used to come to this number.

If you are referring to days held over from 2020 then those are lost. Even if you agree with your manager to use early 2020, it’s the risk you take. Holding over is not an official HR thing, it’s more of a good faith thing between manager and employee but comes with the risk of losing if you leave IBM. HR only pays for the current year.

Your manager has a workday task that asks how many days has the employee taken so far.
That’s it, nothing nefarious.

Your manager tells HR how many unused vacation days you have. In most cases this is for the current and previous year. You manager should have asked you how many unused days you believe you have. That is assuming your manager did not make you use an official vacation request process.

Vacation days are earned throughout the year. They don’t credit you with 15 days at the beginning of every year. Don’t expect to get paid for all unless you leave in December and you’ve used none.

Use your personal Holidays. You can use them anytime you want. If you don't use them, you will lose them.
Vacation is weird. You have 15 days to take during the year. You can take them anytime you want. But and this is the catch, you accrue them during the year. For instance, let's say you left on June 30th. If you took 7.5 vacation days, you would come out even. If you used more, you would technically owe. If you used less, they would pay you the difference.
In short. That vacation payout sounds about right.
