Belongings left in the office

Has anyone that was let go in Jan heard anything about getting their belongings left in the office.
I’m not happy that BNYM is holding my belonging hostage with no communication on how to retrieve them.

Belongings are all locked in cabinets and no one seems to have the keys. They just don’t care and they’re not even trying to appear as if they do. Do not expect to get anything back.

I was laid-off 1/2020 and never got my stuff back. It's possible the exodus from the office due to the pandemic had something to do with that.

Thankfully I'd seen the lay-off coming and having been moved to one of the new 101B open floorplan floors I'd downsized significantly six months earlier and didn't have anything of importance.

I grabbed the few things that mattered on the way down to the conference room.

There were some granola bars and snacks in my drawer which have probably been eaten by mice by now.

Unless your managers a POS they do not let anyone take your stuff. It’s already known prior to the day who is getting let go. Other mgrs will be advised that once you get called to HR, they are to go to your desk and pack your belongings. Items should be cataloged and a list is included in your box. Obviously they don’t give you their property but what they think is yours. Obviously being in a pandemic where everyone was advised to leave is different and you now have to get approval to go in. That’s something your manager and HR should Ben arranging to do

Back in 2014 I was let go. The routine back then was to have a peer pack it up and mail it to you. Mind you, what you may get back will be a LOT less then you expected after all of the other people in the office descend on your workspace like locust and steal what they can. I got back some pens and pencils and c-ap and none of my tools, or paid for IT books. The vultures kept that...

My items were mailed to me by supervisor. No one is being allowed on site that is not cleared per the COVID-19 protocols.

Your prior manager should have reached to you to make arrangements.

I am in the same situation, personal items of value remain at bnymellon. I contacted HR last Friday, was told we are to receive a communication this week regarding next steps. Possibly getting the option to go in to collect our belongings. I guess we wait.
