Does anyone know how Gee Rittenhouse still has a job? Cisco has yet to deliver any innovative security to the market since he has taken over. I question whether he knows what he’s doing. Cisco Security is getting their teeth kicked in the field and not looked at as a serious security player. Curious when a shake up will happen.

Hate to ne--o the thread, but the answer is clear, now. He moves =D
[They need to overhaul the people leading these TAGs]
Clearly the dude that said this, is not actually a part of or on the actual TAGs...and maybe the reason you weren't included to be a part of the Security TAG - is precisely the reason that you hang out there bi--h...
Yes, it has been stagnated on security and pretty much everything else.
I remember back in 2011, we discussed how Microsoft was entering the collaboration market to compete against Cisco. Take a look at the Market share in collaboration. Microsoft share is way larger now. Cisco felt behind.
Same in security.
The comment below about Palo and FTNT eating Cisco’s lunch is spot on. Security Sales has these TAGs and it is the same people leading it as from before Cisco acquired Sourcefire and the same people leading them today. They are out of touch and still trying to play catch up. Good people have come and gone and tried to make a difference but because they are not part of the elite they are minimized. And they wonder why Cisco is falling further behind Palo and FTNT. They need to overhaul the people leading these TAGs.
"Cisco Systems, a cash cow", anybody remember that commercial?
Cisco uses the same bundling trick with Webex sales. We pretty much only sell switches & routers.
Left Cisco years ago, but remember security sales being a total scam anyway in terms of market numbers. Remember K9 bundles? Every router we sold, regardless of it's function was a K9 bundle which included "Security" in it. Allowed Cisco to report that their security sales were doing awesome, when in fact, nothing was being sold there.
I still remember when they bought Sourcefire and someone told me that was going to be the core of the Firewall to replace the ASA's.. Didnt make sense then, and still doesnt make sense now. Palo and FTNT eating Cisco's lunch in that market.
I have been waiting for Cisco being a real security player for the last 15 years ...while the top level announcements always say that security is a key area Cisco wants to focus on, the reality further down the food chain is that there is not enough focus and certainly not enough knowledge on how to sell security. Some regions and countries don’t even have a dedicated security BDM, and if they do then often they have no background in security so fail miserably pitching security to the customer. And the regular sales guys just care about product sales. No wonder security service sales is down.

Why would Cisco put someone that has never been a sales leader in charge of security sales.
I love how ex Cisco folks just hang out here and say stuff.
Do you still talk about the awards and grades you got in high school. Time to move on.
It is not just Gee’s Security Business Group, it is also the security sales leadership too that does not know how to lead. It just got worse with Shelly and the people she has been hiring. It is all about being woke cause those hires are more about optics then about driving security sales or being qualified.
The competition is growing faster, taking more market share, and hiring, while Cisco Security is a mess from innovation and sales with no real leadership.
It's not just the security org. Spend time in other orgs... we've had 4 Chief Operating Officers in 6 years. Talk about dysfunctional
Honestly, I'm more surprised how Cisco is still in business. I used to work in the security org and it was a hot mess. I'm glad I got out years ago.
My firewall won't block LR traffic. Is this a bug or part of the intended design?
he told our group that our product should have lickable screens
Is he woke for social justice? That is more important than product innovation.
