Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It’s not rocket science

For the last 10 years I’ve watch TMO gain on, and then pass us. While we’ve focused on the balance sheet and Network superiority, TMO has gone after net adds.

The stock price formula is simple: get the gross adds, the stock price will follow. The Street simply does not value the financial discipline the way our old school executives do. Start competing, actually competing, on price as well as network superiority and everything else will fall in to place.

I remember years ago D–k Lynch telling his Network team TMO was a sleeping giant.

Absolutely no thought goes into their commercials.

No, I think the tragedy is more that a lot of thought goes into their commercials! Just stupid thoughts...

Agree about VZ marketing. Remember the Jamie foxx commercial when he was dressed as an old man singing or something. I didn’t even get it. Now we brought in our own employees for commercials touting our network. The t mobile commercial with Brady and gronk is clever and funny. Kudos to VZ for the super bowl though and hope it pays off. Our stock price needs it.

VZ marketing is terrible. It’s been like that for years and they can’t figure out how to make it better. I just saw a commercial for Verizon Business and it’s basically a plan sheet in black and white. Absolutely no thought goes into their commercials.

From a brand perspective VZ is boring and reliable versus TMO that's young and energetic. Then add in TMO's price structure and it's no wonder we're losing market share. Just compare our "happy" customer ad campaign (a continuous episodic blur of people) with the new Super Bowl spot TMO created with Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski (which I believe VZ somehow had banned from running during the game), it's night and day and VZ is in the dark.

T-mo is more of a threat now that the vulgar, classless, dope smoking John revere stepped aside.

TMO is far superior in every way. Including 5G.

I agree. We compete like we have cornered the market back in the Bell Atlantic days. Ever since Lowell referred to T-Mobile as the JV team, they have cleaned our clock.

The institutional investors care an awful lot about their dividend which is directly tied to this thing called margins.

Big top line growth and stock price appreciation is s-xy, but that's not how the big money investors see us.

Reminds me of the days when Shampoo would say "It's all about the stock price" and when it kept going sideways it was magically "all about the dividend"

"We are who they thought we were!"
