new legacy sick time policy

Starting February 1, 2021, we're making changes to our PTO policy that will give full- and part-time hourly associates with available Legacy Sick Time more flexibility in when and how they use it.

Effective Feb. 1, 2021, you'll be able to use your available Legacy Sick Time before tapping into your PTO and Protected PTO. It's a great change that gives you more options when you need to take time off.

We're also expanding how you can use your Legacy Sick Time. Effective Feb. 1, 2021, all associates will be able to use Legacy Sick Time for self-care in addition to using it to care for their family. Taking care of yourself and your family are both important and we want to give you the flexibility to use all of your available PTO options to take care of these priorities.

I believe this to be true. In checking my legacy sick time reduced 16 hrs. Which turned into 16hrs of p.t.o.

about 4-5 years ago the company had adopted the PTO system, For those associates who have been with the company had accumulated personal hours which was acquired at weeks end about a couple of hours or so, Sick hours were acquired the same way but only to 192 hours. Anything after would go to personal hours. PTO started due to the minimum wage increase. We lost our accumulated vacation, could not use our personal or sick hours (I still have 500 personnel hours) withdrew our time and half for those hired prior to 1991 and $1.00 Sunday premium. Legacy are the sick and personal hours we had "lost". Us long timers sacrificed a bit for the newbies to come in.

Before PTO we used to have 3 different time off earnings. Vacation (so many weeks depending on how long with company) which was use it or lose on hiring anniversary. Personal hours (earned based on how many hours worked and some on anniversary) which carried over every year. And sick hours (earned based on how many hours worked, could earn up to 192 hours). Which carried over. When we switched to PTO (4 or 5 years ago?) any personal hours and sick hours went into "legacy time". Those of us who had sick or personal hours left weren't able to use those hours unless we used all our PTO first and then only under certain circumstances. We also will not be paid out those hours if we leave.

Personnel Time is completely separate from Sick Time. Legacy or not, if you have Personnel Time only AFTER ALL of your PTO & PPTO are used. Or if you're lucky to be in a Club in the states of CA, IL, or ND your Personnel Time will be paid out to you when you leave the company thanks to those state's law's.

I was a manager and left the company and I didn’t get paid for my Personal time. I was told when I went into management I would get it if I left or stepped down. 18 years later and I quit they didn’t pay me all of my PTO only 5 days and No Personal time that had been hanging there for years.
BTW my Insurance was cancelled the very next day after I quit my job.
That’s how they treat long term associates!

What about Personnel Time that it part of Legacy time?
I have a total of 60 hours combined sick and personnel hours.

Must of got tired of being sued for that time. It was found illegal in several states for them to hold onto this time. Especially since they were not paying individuals this time when they left the company.
