Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

How much stress is unacceptable?

In my many years of work here, I have never encountered more stress. Then I look around, and others are stressed but trying to get used to it.

I wonder how much stress is too much, what is the limit when you need to start looking for a new job more actively, because I am aware that other companies are not particularly better in this regard?

I can’t even describe how bad and tired I feel every day when I get home from work. It's not a burnout, it's more than a burnout.

This company doesn’t care. Management doesn’t care. People are jumping ship on our team left and right and Im wondering if they have even asked themselves why! Just goes to show something is coming down the pike that they aren’t saying. We are stuck doing things we weren’t hired to do, mainly because they laid everyone off. Now we are required to pick up the slack with no extra pay.. they aren’t even pushing to backfill all of the positions. I’ve already applied in house and outside of the company.

I learned the hard way. I worked in Provider Relations. I was overloaded like you can’t imagine. I was no longer living a good quality of life. It took me years to realize this company doesn’t care about my health like I thought they did. I heard things behind the scenes that made me realize they don’t care about the providers or members either. Many employees don’t know what happens behind the scenes and the ignorance is bliss. UHC just cares about the money and not paying it out is they could help it.

I decided to leave and find a job with less stress. I live in peace now. It’s priceless.

Some people love the UHC money too much and stay out of habit/being comfortable.

Decide what’s means most to you.

Some departments are not stressed at all. Others are radically stressed. Sound unfair but that is how it works.

You are not working for a company but a department which is its own company. Try to change departments is like changing companies. It comes down to the department and your boss. Finding that sweet spot is the trick.

Yep. You're spot on. I feel the exact same way. This job went from 100% stress to 110% stress.
