Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

So tired of working 11 to 12 hour days

I am so tired of working 11 to 12 hour days and weekends. They gutted my team and now there is no one to do the work. Combine that with having to pick up work that was previously done by fired workers with no handover and the days are too long. More cuts coming. Management seems to think the BTC can just pick up the work somehow. I am thinking I should start looking for a new job if this is the new norm. I’ve put on weight as there is no time to exercise and hardy see my family.

It is easier to get people to quit than to fire them

Whoever raises issues to me will be put at the top of my PIP list. Your comment is a joke. You think I give a damn. Workforce is scared and I can get people to do almost anything now. What good is putting it in writing? Ha. You’re naive.

As long as you keep covering for management and working the long hours it is all on you, no one else. If work cannot get done because of decisions by management, you need to raise the issue and management needs to figure out what to do. Guarantee you will get no recognition/salary increase, as long as you are not raising the extra work as an issue, it will be ignored. I would raise the issues in email so it is documented and ask for a verbal meeting to discuss.

To add insult to injury look out the window every once in a while and notice the people sitting outside and going to the gym in the afternoon. There is a serious problem with some groups not pulling their weight and being over staffed still in Houston.

My boss told me to work "smarter not harder!" So, now I work 12 - 14 hours...…a week that is🤣

It’s horrendous how management expects us to suddenly just be okay making the same amount of money year after year (less if you count the matching) while doing more and more work. All they say is “well everyone’s overwhelmed right now” uhhhh, and how do you think that will impact the work being done?

I can tell Darwinism has been circumvented in XOM. If these board is a representative sample of the survivors, XOM is in a world of hurt.

I believe there are EM employees receiving KPI points for monitoring this board and insulting the OPs with hidden pro-company remarks.
They called them Kapos in the camps.

Oh, did you replace me? I was doing two roles. Now, my days are lazy and relaxing.

Please don’t fool yourself into thinking that management gives a darn. On December 2nd I was told that it’s my job to get it done no matter what it takes. I spent the entire month working like a mule. I worked 14-16 hours because I had picked up so much extra work. Now I find myself stressed out more than ever before questioning what’s next. Pension or not it’s time to take control of my health - mentally and physically. There are plenty of brown nosers who can pick up the work. Enjoy.

Oh wow, so sorry to hear. I am one of those fired ones without any transition to the remaining. And I am now happily employed with a job that is 10x easier than what I used to do at EM and with almost about the same pay. And my future is brighter with far less stress and with no ranking. I work 8 hours a day now and free on the weekends! No more pension, although I think it's better for me to be happier in the now.

I feel like I’m about to keel over from stress and have a heart attack.
