"we are buddies".... "really?? buddies don't LR their buddies". Managers have zero choice when it comes down. At that point you run the business, change what you can, and you don't spend a lot of time arguing about stuff you have zero ability to change. You are full of it if you say you wouldn't do the same. I'm guessing you are a career help desk person though.

@qps - prior to Cisco, I had to layoff friends. This was because I had absolutely no control who got let go. The logic was so terrible people concluded that some executive used their cat to make lay off decisions. It s—ed but we are still friends.
