Eliminating African Americans through "Diversity"

So why does it seem we lost so many technically talented African Americans in Round 4. It seems Chevron prefers to focus on "Diversity" and the hiring of women, Asians and Hispanics in America. It's scary, particularly in IT how little representation of African Americans there is in Decision Makers.

Just saw the technical talent management group's presentation. Not a single African American in the whole team. How can African Americans be represented if they're not in the room. You would think they would consider this particularly within America to be sensitive to the national cultural concerns.

I don't "buy" the eliminating African Americans from jobs at Chevron.

Instead, I'm concerned that we have so few African Americans on the payroll that when candidates either interview/intern/hire on with Chevron– they decide that Chevron is NOT for them because of not having enough African Americans.

In Corporate America White women is the key to diversity and that's what you see now.

i wish it could be just based on talent, but there is implicit bias. Whites and Asians are hand selected to be accelerated up the management chain in IT at the expense of equally qualified other minorities. Implicit bias creates a glass ceiling, especially when these hand selections are so subjective. People naturally trust people that look, and act like them. It seems Chevron thinks it's fine to just ignore and certainly not actively develop leaders and talent within African American community within IT. Do they think AA just can't do IT so they'll create "Diversity" by hiring and promoting Asians and Women?

I'm concerned that Chevron is using any factors other than the most qualified person to do the job. The number of people without the skills required to do the job is shocking. Why.....because they're making decisions based on D&I, not skills.
