Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Phone ownership after leaving

For employees who purchased a phone at a discount, tied to a call/data plan with a provider: normally after a period of 2 years, the contract with the carrier is fulfilled and the device is yours. But what if you are let go or leave earlier? Does the company keep that device, and in that case, do they reimburse the money you paid?

Unregister your personal accounts, remove all your data, then do factory reset. Re-register using IBM email and corporate credit card. Change password to something long and random, and leave password written on tiny piece of paper in your office - perhaps stored securely at the bottom of your waste bin. Set the device into "stolen mode". Don't return the charger, headphones, accessories. Let them waste their time figuring out what to do next.

If that is your only worry then you are sitting pretty!

When I was RA'd I just renewed the 2 year discount before leaving. The discount was through the 2 years and the phone was mine
