Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Buying a phone through AT&T website

Why is buying a phone through the AT&T website so difficult? Seriously, I have to wait for their slow website to load multiple times. When I select the phone I have to decline so many extras I have no desire for. Then when I finally go to checkout, my card automatically declined to pay, because I usually don't purchase things from AT&T. After figuring that out, AT&T blocked payment from this card on their side, so I have to call them to pay. So I navigated their customer service on my phone until I they told me that this was outside their service hours, and they can't resolve my issue.

How come amazon is so easy to use? It's like they don't want you to upgrade your phone.

There's no incentive to buy online. You won't slam yourself with unnecessary features like insurance and Next UP. Only at the store level with sales reps can you have your account slammed.

Went to Best Buy, bought an unlocked phone at a nice sale price, activated without problems myself. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with the AT&T website and the mail.

The website is a joke and has been for years. They rotate execs that know nothing about the web and then replace them every year.

This is a result of selling Tech Dev to IBM. There's no one left to make minor fixes for free, and the business doesn't know how to manage budgets to pay down its technical debt.

You’re not supposed to buy what you want, you are to buy what they want to sell you.

Ding ding, we have a winner.

You need to open your eyes......The clue was "AT&T".
I'm retiring in a couple of months and the only thing I will have to do with this a$$hole company is shutting down all of AT&T services and moving on.

Folks start buying your phones from the manufacturer. they offer financing and they are unlocked and you can chose the best service and what works for you.

the days of buying your phone from att are long gone.

on that note the sales people at sams club are ridiculous. ever since they switched to att only carrier there sales people have gotten out of hand.

I ended up buying it unlocked through google store. It took about 2 minutes, and I had no issues. I'll activate it myself

Agreed! AT&T's website is horrible. Just to look at my bills every month (wireless, Uverse, and POTS) is a nightmare. I have tried shopping for phones a few times and found it so difficult that I gave up and bought elsewhere.

For a company that does not want to interact personally with customers, you would think they would perfect the online experience. Oh no, we have enough people sending money every month, no need to make things easy.

Why buy from AT&T? Go unlocked so when you get fed up with using 3G microcell and their horrid customer service you can move to TMobile.

Why is watching a show on direct tv so difficult ? When I pause the channel to try and see something interesting ....ATT commercials pop up after ten seconds ! Then I have to hit the pause again , and the screen goes blank for 2 seconds ! Ridiculous .

Way easier with Best Buy online, even for buying a AT&T phone.

T is busy paying dividends and executive compensation, will not invest in anything that actually help customers.

AT&T is not customer service oriented. They prefer to pressure customers to spend more dollars even if it creates an inconvenience to customers.
