Eliminating African Americans in HSE and we call it Diversity and Inclusion

This is my opinion. I got laid off in R4 in HSE. I had been working with the Talent Manager over the last year on my career and he showed me this HSE Dashboard that the VP requested to be put together for all HSE personnel. He showed me how all of critical elements on the scorecard for me were green. He said you are doing what you should be doing and are set. You don't have any worries. I went home and told my wife. We were relieved. Three weeks later we get a call that I was not placed. I was in absolute shock. Four of my other close African American males called me and they were not placed. Suddenly, you see all of these white women without qualifications getting promoted and placed in positions that they are not qualified for based on the Talent Manager's Score Card. In my opinion, Chevron's D&I program is the elimination of the Black Male from the workforce especially in HSE.

@7jot, I don’t think you’re really SAYING anything, but instead DEMANDING something. Isn’t that really what you’re doing?

I am saying we should have been given an equal opportunity. Once again, name one black person in North America HSE (SHE) that is a 26 or above.

Are you telling me that you should have had priority over a white female?

Can someone name one 26 or above HSE Professional in CVX that is African American in North America? Just one.

Why can't we get back to making personnel decisions on the basis of performance, rather than which demographic category one fits in? I can't help how I was born.

What the OP is revealing is the truth about D&I in CVX; window dressing with little action. As long as you speak the same, accepted language, all is well. You’ll notice the ‘elites’ who have already acquired status and small fortunes calling for everyone else’s organization to be more diverse...just not their positions. It is the same in politics as it is in CVX, and the serfs lap it up willingly so as not to be branded an “-ist” or “-phobe” of some type.

One day though, D&I Railways will come chugging into Elitesville, and some of the residents will not have posted enough on Workplace about left-handed equity or each of the 85 genders. And just like that, they will find they’ve got a one-way ticket to Joblessville.

8sc...what rubbish ...the women are steam rolling all the others with D&I ....OURS need their own coach ..yes 1 each to bring them up to speed and zero experience in the HSE field....just stay quiet and only think it ...

I’m a white woman and was let go in R4. So this diversity comment isn’t correct.

I was not a buzz girl. That comment is correct. Those girls did indeed keep their jobs.

I also believe the more work you accomplished, the more positive results you had, the lesser your chance of being kept around.
