There has never been a layoff of that scale ever. 1/3? HA!

That being said IT is never properly managed anyway.

IT (GTS) is extremely top heavy. When Ajay moved over to Verizon Enterprise, he took good care of his wireless friends by replacing a single EVP or VP with 3 FTEs from his old entity. The VPs he brought on board did the same at the Director level. IT at the EVP, VP, and Director level grew three fold. When Verizon 2.0 rebadging and VSP staffing reductions took place, rather than cut the top heavy VPs and Directors, they reduced the manager level and below and kept the IT executive team in tack except for one lone VP in the Supply Chain org and a few Directors that were not part of the circle of friends. Sooner rather than later, the IT executive team with be targeted. Look for retirements come May/June.

About once every 6 months, I come back to this site to see if anything has changed since I got laid off. Looks like they're still shipping as many jobs overseas as possible, contributing as little to the American workforce as humanly possible while increasing their own stock portfolios. I wonder if anybody is left in IT that I even still know, ITSC/NSC/LSC/ITHD was 200+ talented technicians, last I checked it was down to basically 15-20 of them plus Hyderabad/Chennai. Sad story, for sure.

It’s a horrible IT organization, Nepotism , corruption & tribalism galore , they would be doing a favor . Software market is Hot.

IT will continue to be quietly outsource jobs to India while business functions will transform to temp agency models. Why should Verizon pay full-time employees with benefits?

Layoff the full-time employees and rehire through temp agencies... no 401k, health insurance, or employee rights to worry about

BAU. The RIFs and outsourcing will continue as GTS (IT) transforms to a transient offshore workforce led by minimal domestic team. The next wave of RIFs will be predominantly at the VP and Director levels which has been unscathed since Verizon 2.0 began.

June 2021 is going to be a big layoff time. For all channels. It will be how AT&T did to all their employees last year but Verizon will top them.
