Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Who is not so easily replaced here?

I mean, which of us ordinary workers isn’t easily replaced? Of course we all are, but some less and some more. Can it be said that some jobs are safer than others here?

From what I’ve seen in the recent years (management), the only ones that appear to be safe are the new hires. They are isolated and exempt from layoffs.

The only 2 people that ARE dispensable and NEED to go are John and Randy. If the Board of Directors had any backbone, they would have fired them long time ago. With a good BOD, not even CEO's are safe. But, this is T. Even this BOD is dispensable and should be removed for not doing its job. The investors can have them removed. Elliott was on the right track.

For those who feel they can't be replaced...

Indispensable Man

Sometime when you’re feeling important;

Sometime when your ego’s in bloom

Sometime when you take it for granted

You’re the best qualified in the room,

Sometime when you feel that your going

Would leave an unfillable hole,

Just follow these simple instructions

And see how they humble your soul;

Take a bucket and fill it with water,

Put your hand in it up to the wrist,

Pull it out and the hole that’s remaining

Is a measure of how you’ll be missed.

You can splash all you wish when you enter,

You may stir up the water galore,

But stop and you’ll find that in no time

It looks quite the same as before.

The moral of this quaint example

Is do just the best that you can,

Be proud of yourself but remember,

There’s no indispensable man

Seems to me that based on these last several posts apparently, there are several job categories that are safe from layoff. If T really wanted to do it right and get rid of the old timers, it would offer a severance package to these occupational employees that have been around forever and don't plan on going anywhere unless they are offered a package! I guess they really think they'll need their services and expertise moving forward! I really don't see it because the Covid climate has businesses very apprehensive about committing to a service that may not be utilized with employees working from home or customers not allowed on the company premises.

Wrong, wrong, wrong...I am old and paid well and an occupational employee with zero threat of a layoff. As a matter of fact, I sincerely believe that legacy T occupational employees are bullet proof and are not at all worried about a layoff! T is growing the business providing internet and WiFi for businesses and needs technicians to install these services, hence no threat of layoffs! Business is currently slow, but threat of layoff, not even a mention!

No job is safe. I feel they want to contract out everything that doesn’t require a physical state presence

Doesn't matter. If you are old and paid well, you are gone.

We all know that Ratty and Stinky are perfectly safe. Both megalomaniacs.

If you are complaining more than working, you might be a less safe.
