Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

This is all on this leadership

Cisco will survive as long as they can keep the Private equity firms away from them. That’s the whole reason for propping up the share price, paying dividends, trying to get the cash moving, otherwise they’re rich pickings for a leveraged buy out. The sum of the parts is worth more than Cisco and that’s the shocking situation that this leadership team has inflicted on a once great company.

August 2011 Cisco was ripe for a leveraged buy out. $80B market cap and $45B in the bank. That’s why the share price is so important for Cisco. They responded by a massive cut in expenditure (eliminating an entire geo), laying off thousands in the process in the 2nd great cull and announcing a dividend for the first time. Large leveraged buyouts are popular for cash rich failing companies, check out the success of the Hilton one. As a $180B market cap company Cisco is safe, but at what share price value do they start to be vulnerable?

Amazingly as Cisco trims its fat, it's not the best people that survive. It's the most savvy, if you know what I mean

Cisco sure has its problems like all other tech companies but a $180 billion dollar company is way far too rich for private equity firms. Stop smoking whatever you are OP and get back on your medication.

Private equity? LBO? Short selling? The fun thing about reading some of these posts is seeing how the posters cobble together terms they've just learned.
