@1kap
you are incorrect. I was in early 50's and ISP'ed. But guess what, pocketed the severance and found a far superior job in 1 week. Now almost 6 years later really rocking it. Love the job content and more money and stock than Intel would have given. I still want Intel to do well because of my intel stock portfolio.

BK, Murthy, all the senior executives and BOD were total pieces of $h1t in what they did.

Also even the new leadership did nothing to change the poisonous culture or acknowledge what happened. If they did nothing really wrong nothing wrong to be more public about mistakes and hire back the talent they need to fix their company, not that those people would come back, only people coming back are the senior people looking to install the old mafia and make some more money.

If they were serious about making intel great try and bring back and pay those older senior people who really did the real work, sorry the CEO and senior fellows and SVP aren’t the ones that made the company go, they steered it into the rocks and then cut the workers, to make them great again you need more than officers you need quality workers and it is clear in the last four years most of the fellows, SVP, and VPs have gotten nothing done right.

so surprised the corrupt back stabbing management would do something like this, like hiring wives of engineers to boost diversity; who would believe it?

When I saw some of the people that were hit in 2015 and 2016, it was a bit shocking. There were really good engineers in those lists. What made it worse is seeing the 2016 promotion-to-PE list, and seeing people who should have been offed years ago.

Intel has managers who are able to establish symbiotic relationships with certain (mediocre) employees. The manager gets kudos for being a good shepherd of “talent” and the employee gets employed well above their skill level. And other solid employees get the business end of rank-and-tank because of it. And no one from above blows the whistle because they are either in on the scam or are clueless. ICs need to team up and provide unsolicited feedback to management on the really egregious examples. Leverage the Reddit Wall Street approach and team up en masse and make it hard for them to maintain the status quo.

Honestly, the underlying culture at Intel is inherently evil. So, what do you expect?

Interesting that back in 2015. Management was given a target of 12000 to be laid off either through VSP first and/or get to the final 12k target using ISP.
The VSP came with a high pressure guilt button to push..."if you do not take VSP then we'll nail you with a ISP" later. Management wasted countless hours huddled in papered rooms to identify targets. Terrible times at Intel burnt into our memories...shudder. it was age discrimination disguised as meritrocracy.

Never trust a corporation that makes you sign away your rights. Everyone should have a plan for getting fired every day at Intel, that's one lesson from 2015, don't trust anyone, ever.

The top people who planned, initiated, and implemented this round of layoff have left the company. Brian_K, Murthy_G, New CEO will have to face this mess.

Many workers who got ISP'ed were in later stage of their careers. Pat_G could have been ISP'ed if he was there.

They should look at the current make-up of the company. They’ll find that it wasn’t simply age discrimination.
