The IBM execs have absolutely no motivation to invest in anything... there are in this business to steal as much money from the company as they can before they retire.

IBMers need to expect more pain... think no GDP at all, salary reductions, and more layoffs.

Tom Rosamilia sent an e-mail on Friday related to the IBMers affected by the bad weather in TX, OK and other states... You guys can take an additional 10 days of paid vacations if you can't currently work... but hey, don't expect to get a raise comes May 1st.

IBM never gives anything without taking something in counterpart...

Google and Amazon already have competing products for pvt cloud. Ibm's best bet is prepare to sell off to one of them.

Yes Sam and Ginni played financial games instead of innovating. IBM’s board should resign for letting these guys get away with non-innovation. IBM will have to wander in the wilderness for at least 10 years to try and catch up. YES that puts IBM behind the eight ball when it comes to competing. My guess is they will never catch up in public cloud, BUT they can and will exploit private cloud. Why do I say that? Because they own the base HW and SW, thus have pricing power. They also own Redhat, which has market share thus again has pricing power. If you are A Bank, Finance, insurance, Telco, or Govt. who has 60 years of mainframe code running on big iron, are you going to completely rewrite via rip and replace, OR take IBM’s deal to incrementally change to a cloud infrastructure. There is a reason IBM is focused on the industries that brought them to the dance. It’s because they have billions of lines of mainframe code that they don’t want to rip and replace. Yes it’s not s-xy, but it will pay the rent, and bridge current IBM to the smaller streamlined IBM of the future. Can I prove this? Not directly, but consider this 85% of IBM’s revenue comes from the 5 industries listed above via the Fortune 500. THATS a big target if you are AK. Will IBM shrink ABSOLUTELY, but they will survive, or be bought once they are slim and trim.

IBM should have been investing in the CLOUD instead of buying back shares to prop up the stock price. Ginni destroyed the IBM reputation and AK better have a BIG shield because the flack from analysts and investors will come full throttle when revenues continue to decline.

IBM is surrounded by very agile competitors with more cash on hand than IBM's net worth. How do you compete against that...better talent, more flexibility, far more focused executive team. etc. etc.

For the remaining "trench workers" at IBM, get out now before the S&$T show gets uglier.

Jim Whitehurst should be the next CEO of IBM.
After GTS goes to newCo, AK should go in 2022.

I saw yesterday that Delta Airlines has chosen IBM Cloud. The sceptic in me is inclined to think this is due to President JW being the ex-COO of Delta. Or maybe that's just a coincidence and IBM priced it to win it. Or maybe they're fudging the accounting and it's not really cloud!

"IBM will help lead Delta to the public cloud, in order to increase its agility, speed to market and innovation capabilities around digital transformation."

All the buzzwords are there:

"IBM's team of experts, spanning travel transportation and technology, are working with Delta teams to utilize the IBM Garage Methodology and IBM hybrid cloud software, such as CloudPaks, to modernize existing applications and co-create new solutions powering Delta's transformation"

Hey, as long as Watson isn't in the c—pit!

IBM is screwed. Niche player at best in the future. Thank you Sam and Ginni for totally f—ing it up.

IBM ... cloud agnostic

So IBM believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of Cloud.

That actually sounds just about right.

when they show IBM at 5%, is this basically soft layer ? Its real sad with all the Research down with cloud for decades, IBM did not enter the cloud market in any noticeable way until we bought soft layer.

Can you say cloud agnostic? Yep that will be how it works...any cloud, anywhere, including AWS and Azure.

AK is a loser... looking forward to 2022, and him not being the CEO!

Just can't wait to see who will be the next CEO...

AK has already given up trying to be a player in the Cloud business, he made that clear.

AWS and Azure control about 75% of public cloud market. No way IBM is getting more than a few percentage of that market.
