Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Where will NewCo be headquartered?

The United States. We are still determining the city and state.

Translation: Big Bleu is shopping around for the most insane tax incentives offer from some poor, unsuspecting, naïve state/county/municipality that they can sukker in for a 10+ year deal.

NewCo can put their HQ wherever they want, that's a small % of paper pushers.
The grunt workers will probably all stay working remote, its a huge cost saver.
NewCo will not make same mistake as IBM by leasing useless office space.

I would expect Newco to be HQ’ed in the USA as they need USA HQ to keep a large percentage of the Govt contracts. I would guess Raleigh

NewCo will be headquartered in some IBM building (and therefore city) that IBM is in need to get rid of... at a premium for sure!!

Wonder when they are going to the new company name... I am sure the Marketing folks are hard at work!!!

I watched an old IBMers YouTube post about Kingston site closure-layoffs, sad.

Sounds familiar. I remember IBM Kingston was manufacturing cash by making mainframes for 100K and then selling them for several million. They had easy highway access and rail transport right onsite. And they got then governor Mario Cuomo to give them tax breaks. When those expired and Mario put his foot down, IBM pulled out to find another s—er governor. The site is presently in ruins.. IBM can't even clean up after itself.
But - not to worry.. India Business Machines can probably repeat the process in Bangalore or Mumbai. And it's employees will all have acquired "Krishna" consciousness.
