Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Employees have become the enemy as their reduction is the only way to increase EPS.

There is no strategy or hope for revenue growth as AT&T has poisoned everything it has touched.
You cannot overcome the TMobile, DTV, and TWX debacles along with the debt incurred. Now leadership is blaming their $200 Billion Dollar Waste on employees and the need to be leaner and more efficient. Customers don't like AT&T, Employees don't like AT&T, and the Hollywood Media Complex they just bought into does not like AT&T. I knew things were bad but the nail in the coffin was the HBO Town Hall. HBO was doing everything wrong. HBO needs to be more like Netflix. Less quality and more quantity. The coming years for you HBO employees will feel like child birth. Pfefler the mastermind behind HBO's decades long success, you are finished!

I understand your point, but Hollywood already despised Att, now it's on a much deeper level after the betrayal regarding releases. Hollywood has access to plenty of money, Warner doesn't/didn't need Att, Att needs Warner Bros. Unfortunately, Att doesn't know how to manage/monetize what they gained, and have ruined the top studio in media history! Warner was the most amazing place to work pre Att. The new Warner Media CEO, Jason Kilar is not only a huge problem for WM, but equally as big of a problem for Att. Kilar believes he has an open checkbook to pump money into HBOMax from Att, to fulfill his personal streaming dreams. Kilar has convinced Stankster HBOMax will be the next Disney/Netflix, which there is zero chance of happening. Here's the problem, this isn't Kilar first 'start up' rodeo. Kilar has already had a run at his streaming dream 10 years ago, at Hulu. Kilar was essentially run out of Hulu after he and his ego thought he would disrespect bosses and co-workers Like Jeff Zucker, with a scathing 2000 word memo on how out of touch, ill informed, and vision lacking they were. Yes, the CEO now in charge of running 30,000 WM employees at the most prestigious studio in Hollywood, previously manages 250-500 employees at Hulu as start up. Anyway, after his obnoxious letter, he was forced out. Now Kilar hopes to fulfill his streaming dream, give everyone a big "I told ya so" and impress Stanky with old ideas...sadly, Stanker is happy to oblige. If the name Jeff Zucker sounds familiar, it's because it's the CEO of CNN, Jeff Zucker. The same Zucker, Kilar shamed just last week. Kilar humiliated Zucker by taking the CEO position at WM for starters, then by stripping him of his duties at CNN. As a result, Zucker will be leaving CNN at the end of the year. I guess paybacks are hell when BIG egos are jockeying to be the big man on campus. For the record, Zucker is a horrific person, but at least he knows media incredibly well. Kilar knows he's a Hollywood outsider, and getting rid of Zucker ASAP, was a must before Zucker outed Kilar. Anyone with as much media knowledge as Zucker is a major threat to Kilar, therefore, see ya Zucker! The saddest part is, how did Stanky not see this? it's shocking. He really is the absolute worst CEO in history! My guess is, CNN will be sold off sooner rather than later, Att will strip WM to the bone, then sell off whatever's left, for a loss of course. After all the destruction, the Att 'phonies' will cash out, and walk away with millions, with zero regard for the carnage they've left behind.

Love everyone’s posts, right on target. Here’s the real kicker: ATT has several cash-cow products. Sure they’re in decline, but they continue to rake in billions, and the cost structure is sustainable, with revenue covering all costs and turning 25-35% profit. But, rather than supporting them enough to extend whatever shelf life remains, and maximize the revenue potential, Stankey says on that call that “we need to rid ourselves of irrelevant products.” And, he set up committees to try to figure out how to sneak past regulatory agencies to shut them down (illegal, since ATT has taken billions from the government and committed to providing these products to the public). I don’t know why I am shocked anymore, but OMG what is going on? These actions just don’t add up.

You're missing the point, Stankey won't have millions to throw at Warner. I think Stankey is getting desperate as the financial engine begins to slow. Sure the company throws off alot of cash today, however, day after day less and less disposable cash will be hard to come by.

I agree with you completely except for "the Hollywood Media Complex they just bought into does not like AT&T"

They were mad at the push to put first run movies on HBOMax before theaters...because they won't make as much money. Throw money at them and they'll love you again. They don't care what you've done in the past. Look at Disney - The Chinese toss money at them and the Mouse is happy to take their money to make movies showing how wonderful the Chinese culture is (shhh - don't look at the Uighers). As long as Stanky tosses millions to Hollywood, they've love him.
