More Recalls

Does the company manufacture ANYTHING that is not recalled anymore? https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/ford/2021/02/22/ford-recall-thousands-2021-f-150-s-super-duty-trucks/4541119001/

According to FordProblems, this is #144 and #145 for F-150 recalls (most in Ford product portfolio). Followed closely by F-250, Escape, Explorer..... You get the idea. Great way to k–l an iconic brand and company. Who in their right mind would pay premium prices for such a poorly built truck. Not any upscale customer I know, Ford employee or not.

I am skeptical for the reason of the recall ??? Most likely the real reason is something else related to the boggy software...

@1pwz,

A few years back the number of American vehicles driven verses foreign vehicles driven by state was shown on the news. Out of the fifty states, only one state had more than 50% American vehicles vs foreign... Michigan.

@1bin,

Focus on worthless grandstanding powerpoints. This says it all.. too many meetings.. to much talking... nothing getting done. Heck, even the meetings have no focus. Another problem, Ford sees the Dealership as the "customer" and not people buying the cars to drive. Once the vehicles are sold to a dealership Ford "washes their hands" and thinks they are done. The proof of this is in the Warranty/Quality spend. Most of the claims are written so poorly, or there are inflated/unnecessary repairs it is impossible to control the warranty issues the end customer experiences. Management will not enforce rejecting the bogus warranty claims written in gibberish from the dealerships. A $50 repair is easily submitted as $500. An earlier poster sited 3.87 Billion in warranty losses!

Ford/Lincoln products will always be purchased/leased based on price/payment/massive rebates. It had always been this way, and always will be. Perhaps there are a few exceptions (GT, Mustang?) and I'll give some credit to Lincoln SUVs recently, but their is no brand image or brand appeal.

Over the years I thought that Lincoln might up their game on sedans - never happened. No sedans anymore. I've had many BMWs while working for Ford (bought used) as they were fun to drive. None of the Ford products interested me. Plus, the dealer treated you right with free/NEW loaner cars if you needed service. This was 20 years ago - I think Lincoln dealers just recently caught up with this practice.

Travel the country and observe what people are driving. You only see Ford products around here, and most in SE MI are Ford management lease vehicles. My neighborhood has been turning over the last few years - fellow Ford employees, (primarily LL6 and up) retired-downsizing moved elsewhere. New/young neighbors are all driving Honda/Toyota products!

I could go on, and on, but you know the story. And, the stock price reflects it.

When people misrepresent program health, rush programs through OKTB, not let people focus on the important deliverables, but focus on worthless grandstanding powerpoints, the slide will continue. The difference between Ford and Toyota is very simple: We don't build cars we build careers. We don't serve our customers like we should. The more we charge for these vehicles, the more sophisticated and intelligent our customers become. And simply put, their tolerance for b—s— is non-existent especially when you are charging BMW prices. The BEV push should be interesting; the Tesla customer base is predominately professionals (doctors, lawyers, financial, etc.). What will be their draw to give Ford a chance? Just not seeing it at the moment.

We build vehicles like a group of Hillbilly Hacks. Disgraceful what has become of this company.

Maybe if we stop the "MCR" actions after each launch this would cut down on the warranty issues.

For the first nine months of 2020, Ford’s warranty costs totaled $3.87 billion, while General Motors spent $1.68 billion, according to regulatory filings reported by Reuters.

UAW members note that quality is essential to their bottom line, too, since profit sharing checks depend on overall company success. For 2020, Ford workers earned an average $3,625 while GM workers earned an average of $9,000.

Math says it all.

Wait, there’s more:

In addition to loose windshields, Ford also issued a recall Monday for its 2020 Super Duty for exaggerating the capabilities of its trucks, which could result in suspension problems and risk of injury.

Ford said it overstated payload capacity values on the tire and loading information label, accessory reserve capacity values on the safety certification label, and weight values on the truck camper loading documentation.

2020 Ford F-series Super Duty pickup
"If the vehicles are loaded to the payload stated on the tire and loading information label, they may exceed the gross vehicle weight rating or gross axle weight rating," Ford said. "This may result in tire loading beyond rated capacity, suspension overload and increased stopping distance, which could increase the risk of a crash."

The labeling recall affects 9,979 of 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles in the U.S. and federal territories and 1,750 in Canada. All were built at the Kentucky Truck Plant from May 13, 2019 to Sept. 19, 2020

Ford said the front windshields on certain 2021 F-150 and 2020 and 2021 Super Duty trucks "are inadequately bonded to the vehicle body structure," meaning the windshield may not stay in place during a crash. The recall affects 79,017 vehicles in the U.S. and federal territories, 6,986 in Canada and 1,347 in Mexico.

This comes AFTER the rework done offsite.

What a great way to destroy the flagship product and customer loyalty to the brand.

Ford will be acquired before the end of 2022 (and they deserve it)
