This should be required viewing by Board of Directors, Pat, and every member of the ECM!
You think they’d watch and do anything different ?
tldr; summary of video's current assessment of Intel as a company-
Two words:
"pathetic" and
"disgrace"
Why oh why would Pat bother to come back and sully his reputation, there is little to love about this sorry company. There was once companies like Bell Labs, IBM, Kodak, DEC, DataGeneral, SUN and many more. Technology and business don't care about your legacy and what you did last year or last decade, all about what are you doing now for the future and the joke is on Intel and the s—ers who think they are going to come back. Others are resting and vesting, I guess that is pretty good, collect your big paycheck, bonus and buy your fancy cars and such on the backs of the stupid and dumb.
Every time he visits fab his gravitational field sets yield back. He put 47 buffets and a tech company out of business. He ordered pastries for his half of intel and had them sent to his house.
Pat cannot fix anything, he is resting and vesting.
How can PG fix this? Wasn’t he here for most of the rise of intel and all those anticompetitive stuff ?
As CTO wasn’t the supposed to have seen the tires of mobile and convinced the BoD and CEO what the next big thing.
Looks like he missed it all, got passed over as he rightly should have for the top spot and is only back because there is no one else that will take the job as the really good ones like Lisa or Jensen wouldn’t touch the chess pool
What a hell hole
Looks more like politics than magical catchup. Wouldn't be surprised if BS had a hand in pushing out a strong, overbearing personality who can be a threat.
Everyone likes a scapegoat to blame for Intel's failure, and the load big mouth outsider is a favorite and seems everyone is happy he is going.
1) The problems started much earlier, where do you start Andy B., PSO, BK, how about all the senior fellows, leaders in TMG/LTD that failed for decades, the program managers and such that squandered more than 20 billion dollars and lost the technology lead, how many were fired for truly incompetent management - decisions
2) How about all the EVP, SVP and Fellows on the product side who didn't demand accountability from their peers and teams to find a solutions.
Nvidia, AMD, Apple, Qualcomm ate their lunch on the product side and of course TSMC on the process side with far less talent and money.
Murthy came after the house had almost burned to the ground, yeah he made a lot of money and didn't fix a thing, but the house had already burnt to ground by the other occupants.
He laughed all the way to the bank as did all the other Gr12+ folks while the house burned.
Utter failure from the BoD thru VP level, a lot more people especially in TMG and LTD need to be fired in total disgrace, a total FUBAR
Murthy was fired in disgrace for his inability to deliver. He was a complete disaster for Intel and my mind is blown that anyone would still be trying to defend him in 2021. I guess some people really were fooled by his nonstop bloviation.
1si0 Writing 5 pages that just says "Murthy not bad." You are part of the problem but are too dum8 to see it. Process tech aside, he oversaw crippling cost cuts across many orgs. You just pick one topic and try to argue a meaningless point. Go away.
I do not believe Murthy is the only one in Intel who has ZERO technical and business talent, it happens in all levels of Intel and Murthy should not be blamed for all the toxic environment now.
I saw a lot of people stay with Intel for 20+ years, they lost their competence long time ago and do not know what the outside world is like. New hires to Intel could not learn from the upper levels or guided with doing some meaningful projects to enhance their technical skills.
Murthy, no question he comes with a strong personality. Like many senior leaders you don't get there without some talent and lot's of ego. He clearly rose to a pretty high level at Qualcomm and made man enemies and wasn't of course selected for the corner office. Clearly he came to Intel with clear hope and alignment with BK on role and hopefully a future.
As such BS inherited him, pretty hard for him, a design guy to fix LTD mess, hard enough for the LTD experts and even harder for an opinionated outsider with little inside knowledge or direct silicon technology expertise to overhaul that LTD FUBAR. Probably had ideas many maybe correct, many more incorrect and misguided and given his personality leave a waked littered with broken egos and lot of hate.
Sadly, PG and who is now running TMG have never had to face the fundamental challenge of trying to regain silicon leadership. Let's be honest nobody is left in TMG/LTD or SVP that has the really know how to both drive technology and culture. It will take years and tons of money and culture and leadership overhaul.
He was right in the sense of senior outsider, but wasn't the right person or have the right knowledge. Sadly those that have the knowledge and background have no reason to come to Intel, does that have the insider capability don't have the knowledge, really broken and why Intel is finished
Interesting video. But the speaker loses his credibility the moment he portrays Murthy as one of the technical talent intel lost. Anyone who worked with Murthy both at intel and Qualcomm knows that he has ZERO technical and business talent. He is a dysfunctional a– hole who s—s the air out of any room he is in. Murthy speaks non stop, nonsensical gibberish.
Murphy’s value to intel is negative.
