Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Organization flatter and more efficient?

From where you sit, does the organization look flatter, smarter and more agile following this transformation?

The higher ups laid off all the doers and gave themselves all big fat raises. Senior managers got PSG increases, leaving worker bees to figure out how to get compliance work done with half the people. This is the new “Chevron Way”.

@1sui+1a02uAVy: you were let go months ago and are still reading the layoff site related to your former employer ... sad ... time to move on!

So, you have no life nor social network other than this. It's OK. No need to be ashamed.

@1fal: ehhhh... nahhh.... I’m one of the lucky employed just checking this site for entertainment as I sit and “think” about work. How’s your job search going, btw? That friend network helping you out?

@1sui: Seems one of your biggest problems is monitoring this site too much instead of searching for employment.

After getting laid off? Not sure it would matter to any of us. Are you another one of the still employed but no friends or social network so look to the layoff.com as a support group? Wow, somehow my problems seem so insignificant now. Thanks!

I don’t think it’s very nice to say the organization is fatter! I for one have been working out and trying to eat healthy since COVID and I know lots of my coworkers have too. We’re not fatter we’re just a little more horizontally challenged!

Flatter organization for sure, but the same old, same old continues. Change the “Chevron Way” then we’ll see the meaningful changes the company needs. But don’t hold your breath.

Management fads come and go once or two times every decade. Ho hum, what a bore, same as before.

My team added layers of management for pmp purposes as best I can tell. Now there’s three layers of supervision between me and my manager. Also, the new layer they added was populated by people who have no technical background in the work we do :).

Somehow they made it flatter but way less efficient. An entire layer or two of management is gone, but we now have a triple matrix setup which is maddening to navigate. Nobody knows who does what or where the buck stops.Center people are making asset team decisions and vice versa. What a fiasco.

Seems like we work for the “center” and the the center doesn’t work for us . So no. Most good talent has left. Just a bunch of D&I buzz word people.
