Thread regarding Optum layoffs

What is it like to be newly hired now?

I would love to see what this company looks like now from the perspective of those who have only recently been hired and are hearing about the layoffs? When I first came here from another company, I quickly realized that I had made a big mistake, and back then no one was talking about the layoffs. Honestly, I’m sorry for all the talent that came here and I hope they don’t waste a lot of time here.

Here's what it's like out there:

You may get a few more nickels and dimes, however, it's the same. The same bs. The same worker bees and boot lickers and clueless fools that worship Company X, and then 1-3 years later, it's worshipping Company Z.etc.etc...

Most health insurance offered by companies are variations of mediocrity and 'retirement "benefits" are a sad joke as most know the 401ks, etc...are simply a tax trap to differ reality to when we're in our 60s and our employee use is over. We're weared and teared and have nothing to really show for it. So yeah, it's bad there, however, it's different bad when you're simply an employee bc they own you and they know it. then they dangle carrots in front of you: the fancy condo, lux car, materialism, consumerism, teevees, latest techno mumbo jumbo junk, etc.etc..it's a sh@t show and the fools believe it bc they have to.

The place was a revolving door. teammates coming and going. No loyalty, no love, nothing. Just used, abused, and let go for endless 1% profits.

Done buck dancing for that system. No more lies, deceit, and propaganda. Fantasy pictures of working there and endless mind control. No more being sold false hope. enough eating bs.

For the former employee who commented as a former 31 (1ccw+1a0OCzt7), would you mind sharing what company you work for now? Or really anyone who has left and like their new company, I would be interested to hear what’s out there!

Employee Alumni = Laid off people. It is not normal to work there-simply simping. If you are grounded in the truth, unless youre desperate, etc...then use it only as a stepping stone.

I was a 31, hit last June. I found a new job for better pay within 5 weeks! What I found confusing the first few weeks at the new job. 1. Everyone was very cordial, 2. People always show up to meetings 1 min early, 3. There are no FIGHTS on calls, 4. There is RESPECT. There is the same caliber of talent and a LOT of Optum refugees- including a former senior leader.

Much of the company are telecommuters so a lot of the layoff waves can go unnoticed since you don’t physically see people packing up their desks and being escorted out. My prior company, we would know every layoff and approximate size but here, it is very hard to tell. It wasn’t until I joined that my coworkers warned me about the revolving door culture here!

"Was wondering when someone was going to post about all the Linked In lovefest posts lol."

Maybe it was corporate Stockholm syndrome with gas lighting?

Was wondering when someone was going to post about all the Linked In lovefest posts lol. It is a gigantic company and your type of work, your department, and your satisfaction with UHG will vary greatly. Personally I have really liked just about every area I have been in while United except for one which was part of a Reorg. But I am not in Operations, a customer or Patient facing role, or a clinical person. I am shocked at some of the situations posted here cause I have not had that experience but can very much believe it.

Or boarding a doomed plane. They still board with a smile and delusional hope, delusional positivity.

I have to fight the urge to comment whenever someone posts on LinkedIn about their new Optum or UHG job. I hope it goes great for them but I know how the story ends. I guess that's life... kinda like when you know someone who is getting married to the wrong person. All you can do is say good luck!
