They say the best time to look for a job is while you still have a job. But let’s be honest with each other for a second. How many of us, who are unsatisfied working at AT&T, actually updated our CV and checked out what jobs are available at the market? I bet very few of us did.
For some reason, we chose to spend our time complaining about our current job rather than focusing our energy on finding another (better) one. I know it’s a tough job market out there, but until this mindset of the employees changes layoffs will always catch us off guard and our options will be limited.

I know several people going through this now. Most places have a 5-7 interview process. Many of the roles get head count initiated in a qtr. So that being said it's around a 6 week window to get a job at established company. If you miss the window may have to wait a qtr. That is why people can easily go 6 months without a job. If you haven't interviewed in a while it can be daunting in the hot seat. Interviewers don't like words like "we" or "us" that alone could blow your chance. They want to know what you did. Me statements. Take the interviews while you have a job. When you are out of work and a dream job comes you have to be ready to be your best. Good luck, prepare and be ready.
I did 6 years ago. Searched and went through the interview process all while still employed at T. Got an offer and finalized my new starting pay and set my first available date at the new job. Turned in 5 days notice to my boss that I was retiring and walked out that Friday. Set at home a week to unwind and finish prep work for my pension roll over and other financial changes. Started at the new job the following week with zero regrets.
I’ve been here 20+ years, resume is updated as is LinkedIn profile. I am contacted by recruiters regularly. I have noticed that activity and job postings in wireless especially have increased markedly over the last couple months.
