Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Stop telling me I'm lucky to have a job!

If I hear one more manager or even one more coworker tell me I am lucky to have a job and I should be grateful, I'm going to scream! There is nothing we should be grateful about here. This company comes up with new ways to mistreat us every week. Constant layoffs, constant bullying, constant disappearance of benefits... If I should be grateful for that, then the bar is set f—ing too low!

If you have bought into the idea you are lucky your luck is about to run out. Management is offshoring your job. Wake up!

The writing is on the wall. Too much money was lost last year plus the demand for oil didnt return as fast as previously thought. The smart ones know its time to look for a new job.

You are lucky to work for XOM. If you don’t think so, then why haven’t you left yet? Sick of people like you whining all the time.

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT...QUIT!!! We won’t miss you!

Not sure which is worse. You comment or the people that gave a thumbs up.

Slaves? Really? For people who make 6 figure salaries?

Dude, you need to be banned from commenting for those horribly racist, insensitive and ridiculous words.

I really hope you are not an employee.

You are lucky to have a job with great pay and benefits, but EM is working at fixing that for you so you can be happy and never hear that awful phrase again. Maybe you will like "you don't have a job" better? Happy now?

Answer: You’re lucky I haven’t quit (yet).

With all this work piling up, and the cuts made without forethought, the year will soon see the problem when things fall through the cracks and this dump really goes to hell.

Any organization that continues to remind its employees constantly that they are lucky or grateful to have a job shows that the culture is of employing "Slaves" and not truly valuing its intelectually competent human capital. Though it is impractical I believe the only way that company will learn to treat better is if ALL employees at ALL locations either go on a strike together or worst leave the company at the same time. Only then the employees will gain somewhat power, otherwise DW, TG and all mgmt. will continue to mistreat employees as if they are their servants. NO, DW they are not your servants. They deliver their best work in exchange of money in form of compensation. Neither you nor your mgmt. team is doing ANY favor to them. So STOP mistreating then you id–ts!

I was on the job only 3 months when a manager reminded me how grateful I should be because I was one of only 21 people hired in the department for the entire year. That was over 40 years ago. Sad to hear that's still going on.

Exxon was never known for their compassion or kindness. Historically, Exxon always felt that you were "lucky" if they interviewed you, let alone hired you as an employee.

Are you saying management = bullying? I guess all that is left in terms of work contribution is upwards management at EM. Look at our fellow EM psychopaths on LinkedIn who are busy liking every frivolous post that the senior management and executive post. Survival of the lamest.
