Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Should I Leave Out of Fear?

Currently in technical and ranked outstanding last cycle. Been considering other opportunities outside of the company as I don't see a future of growth career-wise here. Is it wise to make a move or should I stay put and ride it out. Still relatively young at 10 yrs overall experience. Interested to know what people think.

Yes you should leave. Don’t wait until you find another job, leave immediately and you’ll be more motivated to find another job. We want smart people, not people who are afraid of their own shadow. Also, you weren’t rated outstanding, you’re not fooling anyone.

I second your comment. OP is doing a humble brag here.

Put on your big person (boy/girl) pants and make a decision for yourself. An OUTSTANDING decision at that.

You were not ranked outstanding if you are asking that question.

If you're in EMIT, then leave if you have a good opportunity (FAANG or similar)

If you want to stay in technology you should leave. IT is not valued at ExxonMobil and for the most part is/will be off-shored and/or supported by 3rd party.

Jump, Always move and demand an increase of 20%, everything in life is negotiable. And for fun, once you have paper, in writing a new offer. Go back to your current employer and tell them, you love working here, but you have a better offer and you would stay, if they would only match the salary and see what happens....it is worth a giggle to see upper management struggle. Then when they come back with X is the best we can manage. You say bye, you enjoyed you time there, it was fun and thank you for all the fish.

I’d say leave no time out of fear but out of hope. There is a better future out there, in growth industries with good work environment and benefits, and hopefully better job security prospects.

You’re asking in a layoff forum whether you should stay or leave?

Can’t be all that bright.
