Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Highest turnover ever?

I’ve been in this company far too long but I don’t remember ever having a higher turnover.
It's happened in the past, but never like now. It’s so bad. If only the new people were coming in with a desire to stay here, but no, I know a person who stayed here for only two months and has already left.

The turnover is insane. The work ethics of the new hires is non-existent. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, ageism, favoritism is a practice encouraged by our GM. The exact persona Ethics wants reported. There have been reports on management to home office without any results but comes back to retaliation. As a long time associate, 30 years, and a lead for 14 of those years, I have seen it all. So many have come to me for advice. If stress is a concern, I strongly suggest for them to "hit enter". In doing so, they have reached success and leave with a better company at a higher pay. I am no longer a lead as my position had been eliminated. I no longer get 2% as I had reached the cap. I am no longer considered for any promotion as I am over 60 and wouldn't get a pay increase anyways. I now hope to make it to retirement age of 62. I just might not make it. Currently a cashier but GM frowns upon that. He doesn't know what to do with me. Job security because of my cash office/personnel background.

lol, yeah, can't tell you how many cashiers have left lately. They should tell prospective cashiers this isn't like a regular grocery store. It's like working in a factory. Groceries here are big and heavy. The work is hard. Take everything out of the cart, put everything back in the cart. Didn't use to be that way. Members took stuff out, we put it back in and most of the time, the members helped put it back in.

They run off the older associates, the door associates, the hardline guys, the guys who worked the center, and grocery associates. The ones, who had been here forever, and took care of members needs, zoned, etc. The ones they could count on to show up, day after day. Since they got rid of the night shift, these guys were forced into being merchandizers. And of course older people aren't as fast as younger people or as strong. Eventually, they either quit or got fired. It was a way to get rid of people past 50, without looking like it was full on ageism. Everyone gets older, count on that. Broke my heart to see the way those people were treated after devoting their work lives to this place.

I still work here, but loyalty to this company? No way. Not after what they did. Learned a big lesson. Loyalty is a thing that belongs in the past, back in a different time. I do my job, collect my paycheck, and don't give a rat's patootie about their members or this company.

Like I said before, this company still are clueless and don’t understand that this generation isn’t built to multitask. They think by shoving $15 an hour in their face will fix everything. People are quitting left and right because all they hire is kids. These kids don’t wanna do 10 things at once. They get hired, they see what’s it like on their first day and bam... out the door by Friday. Walmart refuses to see that. They pushed all the long term associates out, they didn’t take care of them and this is what you get. It’s only gonna get worse from here on out. Go tell 19yo Johnny fresh out of high school that he has to stock freezers, push carts and help in club pick up. Lol! He’s gonna take his break and never come back .

We've had many new hired people do their CBL's and quit. Never had any intention to work. They've quit after orientation.

It happens, they used to hire bus loads of people when i worked night shift, didnt even bother learning their names. most dissappeared after 3 days. after 2 weeks when we ran out of new hires they would send another bus load. rinse and repeat. every now and then someone would stick around.
