Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

If you want to keep your job at XOM....

If you want to keep your job at XOM, start showing up on campus everyday. And make sure your supervisor, manager and department head see your face everyday.
I have this from a reliable source.

Sign up for fake certificates and pay to get non-competitive online degree from some big college name like our loser, good for nothing EM colleagues are doing. Then go on Linkedin and tout yourself as leaders and present yourself as Harvard graduate after attending a 1-day online certificate course there.

Hah .. trying to survive this with any sort of logic is futile. Only strategy works is boot licking. Unfortunately, this time around our fate is sealed, as there is no time to lick enough boots.

So they are hiring alot of offshore workers, remote employees, but want us to show up in person everyday? Writing is on the wall. Hopefully I will have a new job offer in the next two weeks and I am gone! Good luck to those who choose to stay!

Hey are ignorant. Showing your face on campus means nothing for a lot of people.

I wonder if those who were ineligible for either involuntary or voluntary programs in December will now be PIPd?

Some of us are supporting international affiliates but can't be an expat because of cost cuts and we don't have an official "desk" at the campus, boss is in another country...no one to see on campus. So, we are going to be penalized because we didn't badge in? So the company thinks it is better for me to drive to the campus to badge in & dial-into a conference call at 9pm when my boss is actually online? Who will I see on campus at 9pm? MAYBE a security guard. If the company is going to waste time and money with hiring people to track when/if I badge in versus looking at my work...then we are screwed. Are they looking at when I log into my laptop? Because they might notice I've logged in 7 days a week for months ... but badging in is how they figure out whether I'm worthy. If Darren thinks ranking folks based on showing up on campus is better than reviewing how much work I do, he's driving the bus off a cliff.

Sorry, but 'showing up' isn't the same as shining your face at the management.
My physical presence does not reflect my commitment to the company.
I haven't been 'showing up' for this company for a quite a while.

I go into campus, but there are people showing up there sick (maybe not COVID, but at least sick). I feel pretty safe and in my little corner am pretty distant from others, but YMMV.

The campus is very safe and the management did good job in keeping the campus safe. Many employees don’t show up because it is more comfortable to be at home. Those are the ones that may end up in NSI not because they chose their comfort over work.

Meritocracy, where how willing you are to risk your health dictates how good of an employee you are.

I’m fine with that. I’m not risking my health for this job.

Too late as someone said. They probably will use badge data from mid last year to about now to see who showed up without being directly asked.

Too late. Those being PIPED and those in the NSI buckets have already been locked in...
