Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

When's the last time you thought about quitting?

The thought crosses my mind several times each day. Before, I didn't let things get to me as much but now I'm at an age where it's really hard to keep taking c-ap without reacting. I think I'm getting closer to the point where I'm actually going to explode, get it all out and then simply walk out.

Not since I've been with AT&T.

Was several several times a day at my former employer (small private owned business).

I stopped sweating it after my 401k exceeded what i owe on my house.

Yep, i have other responsibilities with family and such, but that was a huge weight lifted from me. To know that i can pay off the house and find something maybe more personally rewarding (at a lower wage) and i would be alright...that helped the most.

In the meantime, i just try and focus on my work and enjoy my peers.

Doesnt matter what i think of sr. Leadership, doeant matter what i write on an ENPS survey. Ive learned, dont care about them or their high and mighty "woke" ideologies, when they dont truly care about me as a professional.

I take care of my work, i enjoy my peers at my level, and take pride in MY work and my teams work because it matters to me. And as long as i'm proud of what im doing and the work i accomplished, thats all that matters.

I know i know, hokey. But its true.

In all seriousness....If this company or any other causes you trauma, anger, frustration, to the point that you feel you will ‘explode one day’, you need to resign or seek help. These are trying times for everyone. Look after your mental health.

I think about it everyday! Probably leave at the end of the year. For the first time hoping I get surrplused due to the benefit cuts, mostly pension even if I take lump Doewould still get hit by losing about $150k due to /interest hikes I guess (according to the pension estimator). So, even if I gamble and stayed whats to say I don't get axed next year lose my benefits and my pension is devalued. I don't want to go but the AT&T's evil board's plan is working?

Why would anyone leave now? Since the mid nineties when they started hiring people to top craft jobs or straight into management with absolutely no experience the job has become so easy. Don't need to do anything, anyone with an old "Bell System" background and training looks like a genius. It's so easy now compared to what we went through in the 70's and 80's why would anyone leave? Still have quota systems, still promote the inept to get them out of your organization, everything is the same but REALLY DUMBED DOWN.

I'm looking for positions outside of AT&T and as soon I find a good one I'm out. AT&T leadership can't seem to do anything right, just heard the Azure Cloud move costs are in and MicroSoft charged us $10mil/month and only 10% of the applications have been migrated! I wonder if they had that number in the ROI analysis?

The hay day of wireless ended a few years ago for all companies. It’s so brutal that there are really no new customers to sell to. It’s all about shareholder value. Start a company called upgrade wireless. 4.25 G is stuck as the parts of the puzzle aren’t even being built. Get out while you can before you are replaced by a vending machine kiosk. Become a vending machine tech. Vending machines need no benefits, 401k, Human Resources. It was so awesome years ago but now it’s bleeding a slow death. No need for management, they don’t control or push the product. They force reps to hit ridiculous metrics that customers cancel a month later. So sad. Electric cars, solar, or day trading are your options. Short the ATNT stock 3 months after the layoffs lol! Life really changed dramatically in a years time. Gotta go. Have to read Reddit...

"Make them fire you. Never quit.

Um, no. If you get fired, you risk losing your pension or other benefits accumulated. Better to let them surplus you, or leave on your own terms."

You can not lose benefits you have earned. Quit or fired.
you are incorrect.

I am getting very close.

Disengaged coworkers with blase attitudes, managers just checking the boxes, dysfunctional processes, constantly broken systems, lack of training. This is just a sea of chaos. Everything is too broken and will never get fixed, because people are scared even to say that there is a problem. So we all numb ourselves and go through the motions.

And on top of all that, the cutting of pay and benefits! It try to stay positive and maintain a work ethic, but it is almost too much to tolerate anymore.

I remember better times, when I enjoyed my job. Maybe I can find that again – outside this company.

Every day I think about leaving ATT since the reorganization occurred in my business unit. T put management in charge that never worked in customer service before and are completely clueless about the business itself. They are also completely disengaged and don’t Seem to care one way or another. They appear to be in it for the paycheck only and not for the success of a Organization or even T overall!

Yeah don't quit. Just do the bare minimum , collect that paycheck. Make them fire you. Never quit.

Never.
One can't attempt to run them out of money if one quits.
They can do as they, as will I.

Leaving this year...AT&T not a good place to work now. Reduced benefits, Incompetent Management, Spiraling Debt, woke culture, Political BS (removed contributions to GOP that voted against election results but NOTHING about the DEMs that are trying to overturn the Iowa Congressional election) etc. I am in a good place so will retire but feel bad for those that stayed to achieve the Rule of 75 only to have benefits yanked out from under them. I will dump all of my AT&T products once I am retired. It is a shame that retiree's can get a better deal with a competitor. If you own any stock in AT&T vote your proxy to remove directors and then dump the under-performing stock. I feel like John Stankey will continue to delete benefits now for the retirees but future for active (vacation). I can see future pension contributions going away as well as reduction in severance going forward. I guess the fact is I JUST DON'T TRUST THEM.

I'm actively looking to leave. I have a few opportunities and I am going to follow through on them.

AT&T left me, I didn't leave AT&T.
