These unrealistic goals dribble down from the VP and director level. They sit around frowning at their metrics dashboards all day, demanding that the managers make the needle move, even if it realistically cannot move any higher given the resources available.
Good managers wouldn’t work in an environment like this unless it’s all they know.
Imagine how stressful it is for your boss? They own all the inflated goals for everyone that works under them.
This Honeywell culture is like a disease. It doesn’t have a source.. just a bunch of cowards that refuse to stand against it. Management sheep.
As soon as you hit or near 100% on a goal, no matter that your team worked nights and weekends to get there, they immediately raise the target by 30% and that becomes the new expectation. Some things can't reach 100% in the first place.

I've noticed this. When I first started here I tried to do a good job, and they asked for exceptions.
"Hey we need you to help out with this."
"Hey we need you to do that."
As soon as I did, it wasn't going over and above anymore. It became the new expextation.
No matter how much we give Honeywell, Honeywell management will always ask for more.
