Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Don’t even have time to shower daily

So many people in my group were fired and continue to resign that my work load has increased to the point I no longer have time to shower. Typing this as I am in the drive through waiting for my breakfast as I am headed to campus. Sorry for the smell!

@1czg+1a36k5X total comp for fresh out of undergrad investment bankers in Houston is ~200-250k+, while total comp for new MBAs in the field can be in the ~500k ballpark that was cited. My general take on comp in different fields is IB/PE > consulting > F500.

My point exactly.. You are very likely NSI potential. There is no company starting out investment bankers at those types of salaries. Any company starting at high salaries is very likely in high cost of living areas that makes sense (New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, etc). You likely have a much higher standard of living with your salary in the Houston area vs those with "high salaries".

Also, I know plenty of professionals in other companies that work those hours and hardly see their kids except on the weekend. If you keep complaining about it, you are not the type of person that should continue to be with this company.

Only seeing your kids on the weekend isn’t normal. If I wanted to work these hours I would have worked at an investment bank where they pay closer to $500k a year for new hires.

Must be hard for folks in HQ to work a typical day at an operating site.

This is pretty much true of any process engineering role at any company. So cry me a river, I don't care.

I know OP is kidding but EM work life balance has gotten ridiculous as of late. Pulling 10-12 hour days + on call frequently. I’m a new hire as well so it’s not like I’m pulling big bucks and RSUs like management.

Don't worry you are not smelling, it is the brown stuff on your nose. Once you are back to campus stick it in where it belongs and everything will be alright.

I have worked with those like you. They generally smell and make lots of mistakes. No offense intended. Good luck!
