Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Do they even ask themselves why this company is losing people daily?

I’m leaving next week. Finally. After more than 15 years of working in this company.
None of the colleagues I met when I first came here work in this company anymore, they all took their ideas to the competitors.
I wonder if they even care that people are leaving or do they think it’s actually OK, that cheaper and inexperienced workers can bring this company more profit?

How can the smart folks in the the C-Suite not realize that displacing (IT) Talent is blinded and the decision-making is not prudent?

IT is a cost center. They care about the money. Nothing else. If they felt IT helped them making money vs just being a cost center they would change. They don't. That won't change here.

They actually told their most talented to GTFO with the VSP. And they did. This article nails it:

Good luck with your plans. Rather than living in nostalgia, go live your life beyond a single company. We are in 2021. Intelligent people are a dime a dozen, and yet wisdom comes from years of learning and has its place.

Today human beings need to do a lot more as roles and functions are becoming a commodity. Companies do what they need to survive, and it has always been the survival of the fittest.

A generation ago, workers changed 3-6 jobs in their lifetime. We live in an time where the current and future generations will be changing employs far frequently. Embrace the future today. Stay hungry, keep learning, and move forward!
