Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Honestly; how busy is your schedule?

Lately, it occurs to me; what a long strange trip it's been.

I actually had to work today for an hour.

That makes about three hours honest work this week.

Who's running this show nowadays?

My manager got another job and still works here at the same time. He didn't quit, he just works both jobs, from home.

The comment abt the California Teachers Union adding value - that’s comedy gold right there.

Many - not all - individual teachers add value via the education of children. The Union on the other hand is a political organization more concerned with maintaining its own power than with education.

Occasionally it can be slow. Some weeks, I have 20-30 hours a week. Some I have 50-70 hours. All depends. USPS NCE. It all seems to balance out at the end of the day.

The California Teachers Union adds value through the education of children. Cisco just sells legacy network equipment, while Directors/VPs only try to exploit immigrants & outsource jobs to countries without labor laws.

Why do I use Zoom? The people who invite me to the calls use Zoom. I don't care what they use. I was in a hands on technical job years ago where I had to make things work. I worked all of the time. After a while I moved to marketing and now I just talk about how things work. I get invited to a few Zoom calls a day where I explain to named account customers how great this stuff is. Then I nap. I don't feel guilty. May pay is a pittance compared to the execs who are exploiting the company and not doing anything useful. I add value when I'm working. Customers actually decide to buy the stuff after I explain it to them. I earn my naps.

My manager and I are BOTH working two jobs. That way she can't fire me, or I can turn her in.

And I can just text her if I'm in another meeting, not to double schedule me.

She leaves me alone.

Otherwise, I'm going out for Starbucks, the Great Mall, or Home Depot to upgrade my bathroom vanity.

I drive past Cisco on Tasman and look at all the empty buildings and wonder if my colleagues are enjoying their misspent time also.

S—ERS!!!

Absolutely a great year for me financially speaking. Not otherwise though because covid-19 stinks.

This year I left one company and they asked me to continue working for them remotely while working for my new company remotely.

Woohoo!!! Let's just say I'm happy!!!

"The Aholes are the smart ones. Anyone who works so hard is stupid." I second this 100%. Hard work only gets you more hard work.. AND laid off. Take a chill pill and relax. I put in a good honest 12-15 hours per week and my blood pressure and overall health have never been better. I don't work here to impress anyone, prove my worth, or compete with poor misguided losers. I work here for ME and ONLY me. Anyone who works for any other reason is a fool's fool.

The Aholes are the smart ones. Anyone who works so hard is stupid. The company doesn't give a rats ahass about you. Make up some BS status (I'm still analyzing the logs or I think this is the issue but I need to investigate it further) and go enjoy some time with your family.
Didn't I read somewhere that the Cisco CEO wanted to move jobs to India.
To the person working in support. I had the same type of job as you. Every day 7 AM/12PM/5PM including weekends was status "meeting" and then before 9PM had to send status by email. Since we are USA employees and salary based, didn't get any overtime pay. USA labor laws don't support overtime for salary workers above certain amount of salary (I think $80K). Out of 45 people in my team, only 10 worked their butts off and I was one of them. We all got layoff and no one cared that we were able to deliver a good product to a major customer. Because we were located in USA, they cut us.
Moral of the story: You're stupid if you're working your butt off cause the company is using you. Like I said, make up some BS to report status and enjoy a few hours with family or by yourself. You will have health issues if you over work. Believe me, I know.

I nap between Zoom calls.

Why would you use the piece of c-ap that is Zoom? I may take a nap between meetings, but I still put in a full day's work.

Those of us in support roles have too much work to do to only do an hour's work per day or three hours per week. The way they're downsizing our teams, we're doing more work of lower quality with less people while you a$$holes slack off.
