Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Quantum - The more I use it, the dumber I become.

Quantum has got to be the dumbest performance management system I've ever seen. It's obviously built for those who do everything "for the 'Gram", posting pics of breakfast and are disappointed if they don't get enough likes.

What a waste of time...

If you're going to post a "commitment" that you're going to eat oatmeal for breakfast, no more fast food, maybe restrict that so the world doesn't know what a dumba$$ you are.

Someone shared that post with me. I felt like brain surgeon after I saw it.

The millenials were clamoring for an insta option to goal management. They go it.

You don’t enter accomplishments at the end. You enter key measure/something and then you log in throughout the year to update your progress complete which displays as a percent bar. All updates are time stamped so everyone can see if you’re posting. But I like the idea of not writing accomplishments. How much do you want to bet supervisors will still ask for a write up word doc in Nov?

Only took me 10 minutes with no training to enter my 4 goals. I won’t look it at again until November when the crunch to enter accomplishments happens. Winning

This isn’t employee engagement, not in the real sense. It makes way easier to do data analytics, counting all the “commitments” and “recognitions”, etc. Meaningless management metrics drive silly behaviors.

The process isn’t about rewarding challengers to the status quo or rock the boat. It’s about holding down masses and controlling the narrative. A new b–tardized bred of social engineering with a copied strategy from LinkedIn, welcome to the new market place of self promotion and highly produced version of truth. It’s nothing but a game.

It's garbage. Written by a 10yr old woke type and all it does is fill my inbox with spam mails.
The 121 feature is tedious and cumbersome.

Nobody in my team has a good word to say about it and it just generates more work for an already over subscribed group.

It needs to go.

8 years in management and this has to be the fourth system. Change for change’s sake is getting old fast. Take away the option for a big bonus and what am I doing anything extra for?

" The do nothings who run around and socialize all day are asking others to put in niceties about them in Quantum.

THIS ^^^^^. Usually the same people that feel absolutely compelled to blab about nothing on every L3 and above call. The people that everyone who brings at least "something" to the table roll their eyes about 10 or more times per day. Check your Quantum feed, it's filled with empty bloviation about these folks. Ri-got-tam-diculous.

This company unfortunately views change as progress. Systems, Segment realignment, Product shuffling and promotion of inexperienced leaders. There is rarely progress when you approach change the way the company does..whic is by the seat of its pants...

How many man hours will this now cost the company while people try and understand this system then have to use it continually through the year. Amplify wasn’t good but it’s perfect compared to this. The training courses on PLE are poor and for some reason are not compulsory. If everyone has to use this then surely they should be compulsory for everyone. What a waste of people’s time when we are struggling to get enough time to do our day jobs. Let’s also get rid of Q & Skype & webex while we are at it. To mirror a previous comment, some people are already wasting time trying to court recognition plus Sycophants thanking the big bosses for doing a town hall. Madness.

This is when I understood how clueless att mgmt was. When I saw the value they placed in performance mgmt systems. The ones I had were very easily tweaked by employees to present a picture very different from reality. I don't know how mgmt couldn't see that. Or they knew but had these systems for some other reason. Much easier to read numbers and charts then to really effectively manage a department.

How in the world is Quantum finding under performers? That is the most mo–nic statement I have heard. People think it is a joke. The do nothings who run around and socialize all day are asking others to put in niceties about them in Quantum. I have had three people ask me in the past wo weeks and trust me the ones who asked me are not the over achievers by a long stretch. Employees working and not running around socializing all day and are are actually working do not have time for the nonsense. Their deliveries speak for themselves. They are not the most popular but everyone knows they are the ones you want to work with and want on your Team.

Penny wise and pound foolish, no money for employee pay and spending millions on trendy bs web services. That is a great way to be competitive, pretty sure that HR will win several bs awards. Just like the award winning next gen technology training, resulted in layoffs of thousands. Can’t make this stuff up.

Its so pathetic that T management wastes money on these 3rd party systems. How many times do vendors come in , claim they have the "next big thing" charge an arm and a leg, and T dumps their internal systems, and pays through the nose for it.. Quantum replaces Amplify, Msft Teams replaces Q , WebEx Replaces AT&T Connect and now Teams will Replace WebEx , and on and on .. We throw away completely adequate systems for some bs 5-10% marginal improvement that costs T millions more... but makes all these vendors happy because they landed a whale of a customer.

Its sh– like this why I have no faith in leadership, they don't care it's not their money, and like other said before some HR got taken to a fancy dinner or some other kickback for making this move.. just pathetic. This is why we don't lose any skin for T , because those with authority are only interested in their own gains.

Colossally dumb. Will be gone when next shiny object replaces it. Meanwhile, play the game and recognize all of your work buddies and bloviate about what a great job they’re doing. My page is full of that nonsense.

Kinda reminds me of how excited they were about TSpace a few years ago. Remember T Space? Anyone?

It's just another example of this company jumping on some management fad.

Some HR goon got to take his family to Tahoe for a week while the 23 year old ceo of some startup sold him on this "performance enhancement" product.

HR goon, not knowing or understanding what people who actually work do, laid down $25mil for a five-year contract for the system thinking this is what finally gets all these mouths to feed off their rears and finally making a contribution to the company.

It'll be gone in three years.

Perfect.
Take time to weed through it and figure it out. "For the company"
Restart the device numerous times due to "issues"
Call tech support and wait on hold for hours.
Take a nap.
AT&T couldn't pour pi$$ out of a boot if the instructions were on the heal.
The more they mess things up and complicate things, the more $$ I make for doing nothing.
Caring is a study in futility.
Smile, wave, profit.
You folks care way too much.

Waaay too much distracting background noise... You'd think focus on goals would be more important.

It might be OK with a small company or if the noise was limited to our very specific team.
