Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What do competitors do better?

Someone mentioned that this company no longer aims to outperform its competitors at all. I agree completely. That part is either completely neglected or we simply can no longer catch up with competitors.

Lately, I’ve also been thinking about trying to find a job at a competing company. Moreover, I think I will find many former colleagues there. What is it that our competitors do better (or worse)?

Support. I left Verizon last year to work in the enterprise space and it's clear as day that Verizon doesn't care about the customer after they buy something. With NTT Data and Lumen I can reach out to account manager for ANYTHING and they deliver. Verizon's reps just give me phone number hell numbers to call and divert to someone else as fast as possible. We have an initive here to remove all Verizon services except cell phone plans (for now) because they are too difficult to work with.

While Hans and company are trying to build the Rolls Royce of 5G networks that no one can afford and will take forever to build out, T-Mobile built/acquired a low cost 5G network for the masses.

T Mobile eats our lunch. AT&T is another bloated telco trying to stay relevant like Verizon. Both are buried in debt and have an extreme union and dividend burdens that are a drag on financials. No way for Verizon and AT&T to compete against T Mobile. It would be like if you have two people that earn the same amount of money but one has 4 kids and the other has no kids. No way the one with 4 kids can compete. Bloated old telcos are in a death spiral.

People leave their companies to come to Verizon just as much Verizon employees leave to competitors. If you want a job you enjoy go into a different industry
