Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Can I have my old manager back, pelase?

I got a new manager about four months ago who thinks micromanagement equals good management and it's driving me insane. I've been doing my job for fifteen years and I never had any complaints. I always did things on time. Now suddenly I apparently have to be observed 24/7, given instructions on things I can do in my sleep, reminded of every little thing that I either was planning to do or have done already... It's not just me, everybody is already sick and tired of him. If the goal was to make us hate our jobs by changing our manager, then job well done.

My micromanager sets a target date 2 days before he actually needs it, sends a reminder 2 days before the target date to remind everyone. When you then send it in to meet his target date in his mind you have only done it because he had to remind you and therefore he is a good manager and needs to micromanage. Meanwhile the one person in the team who constantly misses target dates never gets spoken to.

How old are you and are nearing the 75 rule? Sounds like the exact same happened to me and I left because I am not a two year old child.

Most likely that person was put there to make you leave especially if you are nearing the 75 rule.

Att is a piece of sh– company that could care less about its employees and hires people like your manager to instigate c-ap and piss people off. Filing complaints with HR won't help because they are on your manager's side.

Att is nothing but a globalist company that will outsource you at the first chance they get. It is a real cesspool. But now I am with a much better company that values their employees and got a buyout of my pension and it is doing very well and much better if I left it in att's hands and I can retire anytime I want according to my rules not theirs.

win win for me but I see att still hasn't changed and is still a cesspool.

When I worked at AT&T doing your job reaped rewards for customer and quality. Once Bell took over it was just numbers and customers suffered and quality was a afterthought. I would like to say it is only this company but bottom line is now the new customer satisfaction measurement 🤮

You have a few choices. You can wait him/her out as 1st level managers never seem to stay around for more than a year or so before getting shuffled around. Another option is to give them everything they want. This means taking extra time to do every little step, document everything and send it back to them as often as possible, and take so much time on every little step just the way that they want you to do. This will make your productivity slow down and overload them with work. If you can get your teammates involved, that just makes it better.

your manager can't be pretty bright because they think this tactic will help advancement when there's no chance for that anymore at at&t.

When he bothers you, stop working. Talk for as long as he wants to.

Document. Build a case.
Should you go the EEOC route DO NOT GO TO THE COMPANY hotline.

Start filing the EEO complaints, or better yet, on the job injuries... That new manager will be gone, gone, gone...
