Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Dual Standards

Pros:
1) "There will be no promotion"
2) "There will be no layoffs"
3) "Salary will be frozen"
4) "At this time we are not considering voluntary leave"

Cons:
1) This rule only applies to bottom, nobody employees who work day and night to meet deadlines that are pulled from the thin air, it doesn't apply to 'leaders' who are promoted from Manager to Director, Director to VP, VP to SVP, SVP to EVP, and CO to C*O
2) Of course there will be layoffs, we just cannot tell you until the day we decide we no longer need you. BTW, the process will last until 2022 but please hang in there, and look beyond layoffs
3) Retention bonus will be given away to 'critical leaders' whose salaries are just a rounding error
4) Just in case we need you and you decide to leave. But if you don't need you, you should leave immediately after being notified. We need to do what we must do to fulfill the promise of 1800-2100 cuts we made to investors

Advice to management:
None. You are doing great. Keep enforcing these standards and you will definitely have employees who are looking beyond...

I am confused by the pros and cons? Looks like you have listed company promises vs. company reality.

All site leadership needs to be disbanded and their decisions put under proper scrutiny. Many good folks have had their livelihoods taken away from them :(
