Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Can't wait for the incoming C-suite power struggle

Am I the only one that is looking forward to seeing how this all plays out? The rats are going to feast on eachother. You don't get to that rank without being a psychopath and when a psychopath has it's back against the wall, drama always ensues. If you hear anything about executive movement, please post on here!

Don’t count on our board to help. These are the same tools that approved the Conoco deal and okayed the $30M in retention bonuses to a crew no one else would want. Including $600k to a guy who was retiring anyways. The board also signed off on every round of layoffs since 2012. They don’t care about Cenovus employees and never have and never will.

There’s no help there folks.

I really really don’t care about this company. I am here for the salary and that’s it. Alex can spout off all he wants about new incentives or whatever at his town hall. It’s his attempt to buy the rest of us off with little crumbs from his table. Maybe we will all forget his lies and never ending layoffs if he just offers us something like 20 for 20 that they all knew would never happen. The stupid people bought into it but basic economics would have told you it was a joke. They will come up with some other unattainable reward system that they will never pay out but will sound just awesome. And again the stupid ones might still buy into it as I have no doubt it will be flashy and big. But will never happen.

As for me I could care less about the culture or Cenovus. It’s a pay check and at least I am realistic. Remember no matter what the second you are an inconvenience you are gone.

They didn’t consider how one more layoff may cause a employee revolt. Accountants must have just run numbers on a spreadsheet and said it will work if you lay-off 1 in 4 employees without considering the fall out in engagement and moral, and absolute disgust for this leadership team.

Get them out Board. We all can’t stand them!!

Well, they probably shoukd have looked at other options instead of throwing people into the street. They speak big about being innovative until it comes down to it. As soon as it's their bonus on the line, everything and everyone else is expendable. Why would that instill any loyalty?

I heard they are really worried about staff culture and moral right now. Letters to Board and all.

Kind of goes without saying and this can get even worse if they don’t do something quick. Mergers have been unsuccessful because of similar situations with staff. Can’t run a company without people caring.
