Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

April Layoffs

Is there any truth to layoffs in April. I heard they were coming. It's crazy, I don't know any team that can spare a single person.

Well if they really are coming I'd be perfectly content if I was included in the group let go... But wait a minute–I'm overworked, very underpaid, and my team is already understaffed by 30% since we've been WFH... So I suppose I'm considered an "ideal" BNYM employee and they'll never get rid of me.

What difference if it is April? the layoffs are perpetual....BNY employees are like sheep in a slaughterhouse, you see your colleagues disappear and you continue to graze on instead of leaving.

@1ybv you just described my last manager at BNY.
From what I see and hear, I am glad they let me gowhen they did.

If it's true then only certain business units will be affected. From what I heard, finance upper management told their remaining staffs after the January separations that they were safe for the rest of the year. Now I wonder if they were lying to their employees and it would not surprise me if they were lying! Anything is possible with the Bank, they have proven time and again that they don't really care about their employees. It's every man and woman for themselves. They've created a culture of a cut throat environment.

Good managers have been cut and managers who really stink at managing remain with the firm. The last manager I had was a k**s a$$ and lacked any managerial skills to put it kindly. Wonder what it's like to wake up in the morning and get ready for work when you're a yes man. I guess they can live with it when the salary they make meets their needs at the expense of others.

This company is headed in the wrong direction. Good luck to those who are left to carry the workload of more than one person. Do yourselves a favor and look to move to a firm that values their employees better than BNYM and Pershing LLC.

@soe+1a6vwpHB, I agree and know of one executive who fits that profile of having promoted it and it definitely caught many off guard. Didn't feel that was the place to bring up the subject when HE did.

Who will be the target?

What about the "executive" team? What would we do without them dreaming up ways to promote white guilt?

At one point it was every month, maybe it’s been moved to quarterly.
June/ July is suppose to be bad.
That’s what happens when you work for a firm with no vision and no leadership.

Does anyone have an idea on which departments these layoffs are going to be targeting?
