Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Anyone making the move or thinking about moving to natural gas?

Nat has distribution such as Oneok, Kinder Morgan, Williams etc

Seems like a bad okay by the company. I question strategic planning ability. Oh well who cares. Just wave to shell, bp and others as they pass by. Beep beep!

"The mids operate more lean and there are no books and bust. They have just enough to operate the pipelines no matter what the lng demand, the number of people required stay the assume. This is with a tiny amount of fat for projects. Xom has huge amounts of fat and operates very heavy."

Very true. I left XOM for a midstream company. They are a lean and mean machine. Employees are responsible for a much wider span of control when it comes to OPs and maintenance. Very different culture from a large integrated company. I like it though, the hours are long but the work is gratifying and you feel like you have more ownership over your work.

@bfo+1a7E5NFC Exxon does not distribute it! Natural gas is a small part of xom. Many layoffs lay ahead for xom on the upstream and also downstream sides. Safer to be in a pure natural gas play.

Project work is never safe in poor economic times. So if one goes into exclusive project work, when layoffs come in the future done be surprised to be let go. Natural gas is here to stay for a vey long while. NG distribution is much safer than a major.

That's called the mid-stream business. Exxon is a major, which means it operates in all three oil and gas business segments (up, down, and midstream). So what you are asking is if anyone wants to move to an independent midstream operator. May not be a bad choice. Midstream is doing well, at the moment.

You're joking, right? Good old XOM is 25% of world LNG demand.
