Is there any optimist here to tell us that Cenovus will be back on track? Unfortunately, I do not see a place for optimism anywhere in this company.

I was a rarity in that I was really excited about the merge - nervous but excited. And I kept trying to maintain optimism once we were in it, focusing on the positives like the new assets and technology, the communication and openness on the bridge, how friendly and smart the new people on the other side have been and nice to work with, the opportunity to get some new perspectives and knowledge...but I feel defeated these days. It does feel like we've been thrown in. No team building, no shared objectives or goals to work towards, no appreciation on even a basic engagement level to those of us still here. I am sure I'm not alone in that I feel I'm just left to fend for myself and in the times of covid it is becoming extra difficult. I actually feel like we're just being managed by the bridge and if leadership had its way that's the only way they would manage anything - that and awkward town halls. I have spent almost every day of the last 20 years loving coming to work, in different companies and roles, and I feel like I'm at best coping and trying to put on a brave face for my team so that they don't feel as terrible as I do. Leadership is either oblivious or apathetic to the fact that they are taking an extremely difficult economic and mental health time for people and outright making it exponentially worse.
NO, unless the whole C-Suite changes. Alex is useless, Jon only cares about his next promotion and Jeff needs 20 years more of experience.
What did they expect. He screwed up the Conoco merger and that went on for two years.
This has been the worst merger ever. No communication to staff what their roles are. Just mash two companies together and hope it works out. Great job DZ.
They have no plan for this merger. They threw us all together to fend for ourselves with no plan. Two cultures mashed together and left to fend for themselves. They bring Husky management over to Cenovus and make Cenovus employees report to them and expect it all to go just fine by itself?? We have been abandoned by our own company.
This company is going to knock it out of the park.....so yeah lots of reason for optimism.
Lol you fellas need a package and don't worry about cve anymore
From Forbes...According to Harvard Business Review (registration required), between 70% and 90% of mergers and acquisitions fail. It’s a shocking number, and the one thing all have in common is people. Mergers and acquisitions fail more often than not because key people leave, teams don’t get along or demotivation sets into the company being acquired.
Looks like management have ticked all these boxes...
Zero possibility.
This is a company ran by "The Squash Club" with no interest in running a fair and balanced organisation. High school 101.
Things can only get worse.
No. The writing is on the wall for CVE and also Canadian energy.
