Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Coming for experienced engineers who are technical not managers

The PIP this year will be heavy on targeting experienced engineers who aren’t managers. The technical job ladder is dead. If you are over 40 you have a huge target on your back now and every year going forward.

@dft+1a8jkiuA is correct as I know of atleast a few managers in our group and cross functionally have been placed in such roles recently. When I saw announcements I was like why are these people being put in such IC technical roles.

Managerial types also being put in roles previously reserved for highly technical employees. The technical roles are being used now as parking spaces for managerial types to keep them safe.

What the hell justifies tagging managers as untouchable? Why HR doesnt be honest and transparent owing that managment would never get laid off or fired even if they performed low or screw up things. Why?
