I often tell my manager how awesome she is. I also get raises and she doesn’t micromanage me. Seems fair.

GBS. I get a new manager every 9 months or so. Been at the same client for years meanwhile. Don't spend much time worrying about my manager or trying to build a relationship, it's pointless.

I've heard a manager use the words "I dare you to escalate me"
Well in this case the manager was still escalated by the staffer.
Later that week the manager fired the staffer. Doh!
Guess he was warned not to escalate...

Have done. Nearly lost my job for doing it. Manager retaliated heavily. Gave me a bad performance review. I had to be saved from the RA list. Would never do again. Not at IBM, that’s for sure. GBS.
