Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Leaving T, Getting Out of CA & Moving to TX

I just read this article about the housing market. Looks like a great time to relocate from AT&T, sell my house and live large in Texas.

Should you choose to move to texas you will find some of the nicest people in the nation. You will be welcomed by your neighbors, waved at by perfect strangers, doors held open for you and many other unwritten kindness’ shown for no other reason than we are Texans and want you to be one too.
Texas is not California for sure, the weather is hot, storms can be severe, the housing market is on fire. We have worked hard to make this a place that is welcoming and a great place to do business. Conservative principles and fiscally responsibility has made that possible. Welcome

Sorry. Texas is full. Try Arizona. Plenty of Kalifornians for neighbors.

I had the same offer and accepted. I was told my pay would not be cut do to cost of living. (True). But, all pay increases stopped. Even when I fell within the guidelines, the pay ranges were lowered. I should have not believed that I would be eligible next year. My supervisor used my budgeted portion to reward his favorites. I could hear the joy at team meetings about the above average pay increases.

Be careful, your higher California pay will result in higher Social Security benefits. Move after you max out or are close to retirement.

And buy a generator for when the power goes out in the middle of February and put aside $5k for the electric bill you'll get thanks to surge pricing.

If you're moving to Houston, bring an oxygen tank for the summers when it looks like Beijing thanks to all the pollution.

If you do move to Texas - pay the extra charge for the covered parking at your rental apartment so when the hail storms moves through - your car still has windows.

Come on down. The cons here are keyboard cowards who sit behind their computers and live their alternative lives. At work you will think they are liberal because they go undercover with all their hate and racism. They know better here, this is not Mississippi.

But because of home prices in California, homes here will still seem like a deal to you. It is Texans themselves that are being priced out. Realtors love you, houses selling with first viewing.

Anyone who voluntarily moves to Texas deserves to live there.

Those who are sent there against their will have my deepest condolensces.

If you do move to Texas, leave your voting preference in Cali, i.e. don't California our Texas.

There are no longer any bargains in Texas, it is too late. Take your California money and shove it , we do not want you here.
