Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Is anybody else excited about more layoffs?

Not for other people, of course, but for myself. I've never thought there'd be a point in my life where I'd be praying to be laid off but here I am. I don't even have anything new lined up, I just want out. I'd quit but I can't really afford it, so I have to wait for severance. If there was a way to volunteer, I'd be the first in line.

No, that is exactly how the world works today. Virtually no retirement benefits, no pension, and a company treating you like a number, then the company gets no breaks either.

In fact I would go one step further and schedule a surgery that was put off in order to keep working that free overtime. Even if you get informed that you are laid off, they can not do it until you used up your 10 weeks of disability. Use the time to stress free search for a new job.

@ljg+1aBEDgXi Thank you captain obvious.

Some other obvious things we all know. You don't get a paycheck unless you have a job. You will have financial issues with no job and no savings. People retire when they can financially. Or maybe you want a year to hike the PCT or travel around the US in a van?

At my point in life a layoff with a little extra cash for me would be nice. Or maybe I will just have to retire

@vit,

How about the packages execs and the CEO get. Those conservatives should get hit by a train.

You’re complaining about the wrong group while your own is totally ripping you off and laugh that you can’t even figure it out. Keep complaining about where the money isn’t.

I don’t look to reduce my peers compensation. I look to increase my peers salary by leaving the company and getting a better salary elsewhere. When enough people leave, Honeywell will need to be more competitive in retaining employees. I can then come back at an even better salary if I chose.

This is the most back asswards, lazy, poor work ethic, liberal cr-p I have seen. You want to quit, and get paid for it. That is absolutely pathetic. You have no pride in yourself, and no respect for the people around you. My only hope, is that you get hit by a semi on your way out the door.

UGHHHHH!!!!!! I wish, wish, wish that I could turn back the hands of time!!!!!! I was the FOOL that QUIT! I was the FOOL forfeited over a decades worth of severance! I was the FOOL that let all of the craziness push me out of the door before I was ready. I was the FOOL who. after 3 days. wanted back in so badly so that I could continue making a "decent" living. (You have to admit, the pay is pretty decent). The moral of the post is to reiterate NOT to quit unless you're really, really, ready! Believe me, I really wish I was smarter with my decision. Don't make the same mistake that I did. One other thought, I understand the thumbs down from the folks that don't feel about HW that I did. I am only trying to support those that are on the same cusp that I was! Be very very careful about your decision, when and how you make it. Take Care my Friend!

On that point, who answered question 24 on the recent survey that asks ‘will you still be at Honeywell in two years’? Seems like the answer to this question may be in their hands. With that said, I’d take voluntary RIF anytime after 7/15 (401k match preserved with 26-week severance)

never let on you are leaving anyway. They won't give you what you want and cheat you out of severance.

Yes, I also hope they will ask for volunteers. I will try this next round.

Most likely there won't be across the board layoffs but they are always looking to outsource whatever functions they can. I hope that mine is one they look at.

Yes, I can move on if I choose but I would like the package. Either way I don't have much longer to go.

If the severance was big enough, I would but pity it isn’t therefore, I can’t leave this job. The consistent job hunting continues that when the so-called V-shape recovery does eventually happen, jobs that eluded the industry for more than a year now will surface once again. Keep your profiles updated and resumes handy.
