Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How do you research a company?

When you are looking for a new job and are considering accepting an offer from a company, how do you research it to make sure it doesn't have the same issues as XOM? I don't think Glassdoor and Indeed are the best indicators of either the good or the bad sides due to the easy of post-manipulation, but I'm not sure what would be considered a good, reliable source.

I've networked with my school's Engineering Alumni association recently.
Found this to be a good source for variety of career topics.
Including company cultural assessments on the side channels.

Networking... even at the field level is the most absolute find someone in the same position or similar position that you are in and let them sell it to you or sway you from it. I know I’m completely honest with people who ask me about working here you have to be I don’t ill will on anyone.

Yes glassdoor is definitely not a good indicator. I read up all the good reviews from glassdoor abt this company before deciding to accept the offer from Exxon 2 yrs back. 🙄
