5 Competent Leaders left HON in April

I have come across LinkedIn posts of 5 very competent leaders (VPs and Directors in different functions) that had left Honeywell for better opportunities in the month of April only (don’t feel right to name them). I don’t think that they had any issues with their jobs in Honeywell. The average tenure of these folks are 12 years. Perhaps they were asked to re-locate and declined or they saw something that a lot of us have not seen yet.

This is true. You need to layoff or RIF to make inclusive and diverse additions rapidly so not to have discrimination yet Honeywell consistently discriminates against "age".

They brought the Honeywood squares game in the quarterly town hall. Red squares means you get voted off the game show. Doesn’t matter if you’re d-mber than dirt or David Packard, red means dead.

Live long enough and you stop calling people names. Competent, incompetent, lazy, useless, brilliant, ... all just labels that could apply to just about anyone depending on which moment or from which perspective you look. There are outliers to up and downside. Our human nature causes us to talk about the downsides more often in an effort to lift our own ego.
I dont know who you folks are talking about and they probably were failing in their roles.. doesnt mean much to anyone here.
More interesting would be patterns of leadership changing in a single business area. That tends to trickle down.

We always have the RIGHT to comment, but having no factual basis for our comments, SHOULD we? Just because we CAN do something doesn't always mean we should.

Only a mo--n or a brown nosing suck up would call the VP GM they let go two weeks ago a leader or competent. It’s sounds like the same guy a few weeks that wanted his post on the subject removed once those that are working in the business pointed out how little credibility this guy has on the subject. What gives him the right to even comment, if he has never worked for a individual to say they are competent as a manager?

@hmd- I didn’t have any agenda to write this post. It’s just I have been mentality very much benefitted from this platform hence thought to share this news. I have recently left Honeywell and am very happy (I hated the suck-up environment and people). I don’t have any direct experience working with these 5 leaders. But based on what they did for Honeywell and my general observation, I had developed some respect for them and hence called them competent leader. Nothing more than that.

You can get rid of all of them and it wouldn't make any difference. What do they actually contribute? A__ chewings? Send nonsense e-mails? How does that add to the bottom line? Come on Q2 is now on the clock....

So glad they finally fired our lame, useless VP GM in April. The new guy seems very nice and capable. Only time will tell.

To me this post regarding 5 competent leaders sounds like it was written by one of the brown nosier’s, suck-ups that was hired by one of these recently released incompetent managers and is now afraid of losing his job.

One of your “so called” competent VP GM managers recently released was totally incompetent in my opinion. He failed at every position he was put in charge of for over 10 years. He continually created a web of lies to upper management, Human Resources, customers and others, as he smiled and spoke calmly and softy, as he deceived, manipulated, backstabbed and played head games as a way of control. Appeared to take great pleasure in undermining specific individuals and projects. Always took credit for others successes and always blamed others for his failures. Created a very negative environment. Had a history of pitching and then discontinuing crazy unrealistic projects and ideas that failed, with those involved losing there jobs for his total incompetence. Unfortunately this was allowed to occur for years and years. I am sure other have observed similar actions by so called competent mangers by HR and others in management.

As a manager you are often asked to do things you think aren't right for your people. But the company needs them done if it is to succeed. The clever manager will usually find a way to accomplish the goal while avoiding damage to the team. Maybe these guys finally got marching orders they couldn't implement without hurting their people.
