Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Anything to look forward to?

I am in the downstream lubes organization, and my morale has never been lower. We lost a lot of good people through the cuts and "encouraged" retirements last year, and everyone has been pulling double duty for months now with no relief in sight.
We're currently going through multiple supply chain issues, major price increases, and now we've got team members being reallocated to Beaumont to run the plant while the union contract is resolved. On top of that, we're going into the annual review cycle and have the 8% MLRP number hanging over our heads.
I'm only in my first role with the company so maybe I lack some perspective, but I feel like there is nothing that I can feel positive or hopeful about. It seems to me that work will keep taking more of my time and energy over the coming year.
I'd like to stick it out for at least a second role to gain more experience before looking for outside jobs, but I am finding it hard to think about sticking around for multiple more years. Do you have any tips on how to stay motivated and find energy to do your job in the current environment?

I’ve been in the chemical as well as oil&gas industry for thirty years. Like any industries, change is inevitable. You will see many ups and down. Take it one day at a time and look for the small wins....helping a fellow co-worker and making things easier to those who follow. However, do keep your options open. If you don’t enjoy the work you do, then it’s time to move on. Never work for just the pay check.

Just wait and see what happens if Engine No.1 gets their way. You think things are bad now? You ain’t seen nothing yet.

Sadly, I've been here over a decade and never seen management or a culture this bad.

I think, at this point, it is going to gradually get worse... Once DW choose the dividend over employees, they've been on that track and are unlikely to get off.

Honestly, if you're the new and you're not interviewing around, then you are behind your peers.
