Thoughts? I have to report to a KLTC manager now.

Engineering in the US will have an annual 5-10% reduction in the next 5 or so years (pip, retirements, limited hiring). It will be a longer process than what is mentioned in earlier posts but will happen. Expect to stabilize to 50-60% of what it is today. Engineering positions from the plants will also be cut. Most of these positions will be off-shored.

OP - head for the exits. EMRE is dead man walking. Projects is already gone, Everything Engineering/FPO related will move to KLTC in months/a year for cost reasons and unless you want to work for 20% your salary ... R&D (Clinton/ Annandale) may last a couple of years but will die with Dr Syrup. There just isn't anything novel to be done in downstream R&D. TBH hasn't been in decades but high oil prices kept the illusion. (not that the upstream is any better). Elon called their bluff, then the pandemic hit, the rest is history. R U N for another industry.

EMRE will not be gone by year end - but campus should be some to HP/HPE. Their corporate relocation will require much more office space...and DW will get a bonus for the transaction.

Not looking good for us in Annandale, I expect we will be cut to the bone, or moved.

Yes, EMRE is gone by the end of the year. EM is moving the ones they want to keep to the plants and refineries where the actual work happens and is needed. With real estate going fast in Texas, the campus will be sold to Apple, Tesla, Google, or someone else and DW will get a bonus for making money in real estate. EMRE never added value but now EM can’t afford them and the real estate market is too tempting. Any actual work that was done by the 5% at EMRE (yes I’m being generous) will by done at KL or India.

KL hay-ell.
If they can't write Oil/Gas R&D off on US taxes, what is the point of R&D?
Commodity R&D - that's simply logistics.
There will be no breakthrough technologies by this company ever again.

So - what's the point of KL doing R&D? Maybe just for wind-down and hand-washing.

Agree!

If an efficiently run business took over, a high percentage of personnel in EMRE will not have jobs. They would be gone in no time.

Some group leads just 1-1 every day to fill up time. Not actual work. Have outside best engineering consultants come in to reorg will trim EMRE down to half. Leads, DH all gone. The senior professional can be DH position. That's how to be lean.. I mean Lean. In other words if sell EMRE to 3rd party, you will see how reorg LOOK LIKE.

A major takeaway for me: new org chart breaks barriers and fast tracks KL engineers. Regional engineers more embedded at local sites or expats to support KL growth. Theme is how to empower KL engineers moving forward through global leadership, manager and technical roles.

Start in Annandale, management way to fat, begin in PPLE with the NJRSC spill over, tragic to layoff these young engineers and bring in NJRSC trash. The system is corrupt. DH and Group head are incompetent just trying to save themselves. There are section heads and supervisors everywhere. Then move to the third floor we need an upper management turnover, and Our HR needs a separate thread!!!! Darrin T, wake up. Morale is at an all time low, and trust is nonexistent , someone needs to take charge. So many good talented employees have left. Costing way too much to be in Clinton, bang the for sale sign on route 22 entrance and get on with the trip to Baytown. Huge savings to consolidate. What’s taking so long? Overhead cost is outrageous, so much unproductive time. Utopia for contractors. One more picnic?

The organization needs to be more accountable to it’s employees and the teams it leads. That’s it’s core issue moving forward if it wants to progress and make change.

They only eliminated a VP. When will Exxon flatten the organization further. Way too many DHs and Group leads

Just more convoluted bureaucracy. More or less same number of leads and managers.
