Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

How engaged are you in your work?

Does Nike encourage employee engagement anymore? It seems to me that this is becoming a company that is less and less successful in influencing the willingness of employees to stay engaged and contributing. I used to be very engaged in my work, but over time I increasingly lost the feeling that it is worth being a really engaged employee here.

To be truly engaged, you have to be empowered and have autonomy. You also have to be seen and valued as a human. The new world we are in right now is one where employees are order takers and we are replaceable cogs in the machine.

Haven’t been engaged since CDA announcement. The whole waiting part, team mates getting laid off, incompetent team mates getting promoted but zero recognition in your function… If anything working from home has helped because if I had to go to the office everyday and see these peoples faces I’d go insane (zoom calls it’s a full screen and hiding speaker view incase you were wondering and camera off)

Hard to be engaged when some of our best VP and S band level leaders were exited or have left on their own this past year. What are we left with? Some who are legit incompetent, newbies, and very few who know how to lead or what to do. It’s making our lives exhausting without any clear direction.

Two things totally ki---d my motivation to be engaged:

  1. Seeing people around me who spent more time gossiping than working getting converted to FTE.
  2. Realizing everything I was working on didn't matter because in a few months priorities would change and projects would get ki---d.

No one can do sh-t specifically because of these yearly CDA/GT reorgs, engagement is low because it's obvious no one knows what the he-l they'll even have to work with afterward

Hard to be engaged when leadership is anything but transparent, leadership decisions during CDA screws you big time, and recruiting treats internal candidates poorly.

@1b1b+1a... It will never be the same. And who actually wants to go back to campus??

I am less engaged specifically because of CDA ... and the impending typhoon that will be the G T reorg/CDA/whatever. The waiting is insanity. They made a mess of this and so many are just waiting for the other shoe to drop. We lost the best of the best from our group. More are leaving.

Well… hard to be engaged while you’re working from home due to COVID. So, I can’t blame only CDA on the mood.
Zoom fatigue, lack of social interaction, etc. all of this draining the energy and giving nothing back.
Let’s wait till we’re all back on campus and things get back to normal. Then we can see if the engagement increases.
